  • I turned up to Wests polo for the first time having not yet met anyone on the forum at all.

    I was scared.
I brought a six pack of red stripe and all was well.
Everyone was really nice - Aram, Jenne, Wayne, Louis, Prav, Dominic etc.
I was lent a bike and mallet and had a good old roll around.
I had a lovely time and turned up every week after that over the summer.
    Great fun.
    Great friends.
    Lots of beer and banter.
Played in the next winter league.
    Was shit.
    My team came last.
That was ok - it didn't really matter 'cause I had fun and made some good friends.

And then decided I decided polo wasn't really for me. I don't have the commitment to get good and I don't want to be eternally rubbish.

Not continuing to play was not down to the people, a lack of friendliness or anything other than maybe I'm just not really a 'polo person'.

Having said that, I don't feel that the 'No polo, no talk' mantra is particularly inclusive, even if it's tongue in cheek...
