81.7-89.9=8.2kg
If I can knock 1kg off that with wheels, tyres and the new groupset then I'll be very happy.

It might not be too late to get 7800, nicer looks than the current 6700 or 7900 and about midway between them in price.

SRAM force is lighter (1951g claimed), and £585 (after 10% current discount).

http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=Y0120I guess you know how lighter the EA90 SLX wheels are (stalking, been through your rubbish too)

Tyres - Veloflex Corsa (180g claimed)
http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=Y0120They are nearer to 200g in real life, and I still wouldn't use them for a tour. Lovely tyres, but for racing only.

I've put a fair few miles on mine, and have only had a total of 2 punctures the pair (1 user error induced blow-out). Thats with weight weenie latex inners. They've even coped with the stoney clay road at the top of my favourate climb.
(I'm typing this wondering why the hell my new roadie is wearing Ultremos, and not veloflex corsas. But that was a budget thing)

How much lighter is Force? Bearing in mind that I will keep my existing BB30 chainset?

SRAm Force is 1951g.
Ultegra is 2301g.SRAM Force chainset = 791g
Ultegra chainset = 785gBut I reckon the above weight for force is with a BB30 chainset which is 645g. So 140g of the saving is actually in the crankset. So 260g*.

But its the chainset of the new shimano groupsets that is so dam ugly, and dammit already has one. The new levers are much nicer than the old ones.

Why is it that all vegetarians (I know) are obese?
Because the food is so bland, they must fry it to give it some flavour

No to chrome spray. Do you actually have chrome on it? Do you mean the stays/forks - not much else is usually chrome. If you have put 'Moors on that it may be fooked. If it's not, just use Autosol on a cloth. If you mean you have a bare metal frame, it's prob steel or Al - post a picture.

Ah, the accuracy and precision that we have come to expect.

the new chainsets are lush! stiffer too with the composite outer chainring.
i swapped old for new ultegra cranks mainly because they are better looking. -
• #6572
Much as I'd love to pretend that I'll be using the outer chainring whilst attacking on Galibier I suspect that I may be using the inner of the two.
Tell no one of this.

Thank fuck for that. The old ones were like liquorish.
Thank goodness for that, I was beginning to think I was missing something really obvious.
SystemSix+Easton EA90 SLX+2011 Ultegra= ready for the Alps I reckon.
Now I just need to get me ready.
