Without some sort of context for those numbers, ie what left-fielders & 1st basemen go for, this statement is a bit meaningless. The Red Sox run at a profit, and I should think that is what the plan for Liverpool is.

I think you're exactly right. Plus the transfers and signings in baseball work in a completely different way as far as I understand. But I thought it was still an interesting view-point.
