Whilst the fast group was great for bombing round the closing roads, I waited for my better half and joined the second group of about 15 and we were stopped just at the time the photograph of the first group was taken, at the bottom of the mall which I'm guessing was 5ish minutes after. In an ideal world it would be great to have a fucking huge group make it all the way to the finish, but slowing down to a level where everyone could finish would be both unrealistic and unfair on a lot of people. If the pace was kept reasonable for the majority of the route and then picked up for the final sprint more people would cross the line as the authorities would be unable to deal with the mass of people moving at speed. Just a thought. However, as I finished a good 30 mins before my other half, I wouldn't wait for her this time in the hope I'd make it across the line.
