Just got an email though that I'm riding in Manchester Minidrome this Saturday. Any tips on gear inches? Was actually thinking about running my fixed Moulton, rather than risk my track bike - its got about 65GI on it at the moment (and bullhorns, and 20" wheels with 1.5" tyres...) - good idea/bad idea?

The people who did better were on trick bikes. low GI and wide handlebars seemed to work well.

^this. Drops, track gearing and carbon wheels didnt work for me

Also, when turning, look at where you want to go, rather than ahead of you. And trust the lean.

I popped something on the Manchester thread but, yeah trick gearing is advised, I set an alright time with 82 gear inches but I dropped my ratio for the heats. You can run drop bars but to play it tactically you want to be able to "pump" around the tight apex
Would have.
