Newcastle Rides

Anyone been out riding in the snow? I went for an urban ride last night on the polo bike. Turns out 23's with no tread are not ideal for slushy conditions. Stacked it twice at very slow speeds. A lot of fun though.

Been out on the cross bike once on 32C. Decided in a foot of snow the 29er with 2.55 inch tyres was a lot better idea.

is this an organised ride? is it suitable for those fixed gear bikes?

been a while since i rode anywhere near 40 miles!

Me and Gav where going to do it and thought others might like to. I'll organise it since I know the route at least until Durham. Definitely suitable until Durham, after that its all downhill so I'd imagine it'll be fine.

I'm up for this, although not at world record pace. Any idea which train company it is - sub-question; how many bikes can get on one train?

I'd be up for it but like Matt, not fast paced.

Dependent on what im working Im pretty keen. Like Phil though im a little apprehensive about doing a 40mile ride with winter, read unfit, legs

Not sure what train company it is to be honest or how how many bikes can fit on a train.

Edit: Just looked into train provider and its Northern Rail. Apparently it's 2 bikes per train but I've been on other Northern Rail trains with 3 or 4 bikes on so should be okay.
