Hey VeLLo, I will happily come film it.......but i also dont have a suitable camera at the moment so if you can get hold of a camera then let me know. Theo

you need good sound.
so the recording from the desk (if there is one) needs to sync with the visuals.
just sayin. -

I'm free, only have my nikon d5000 to shoot on, but I did get a new wide apature lens a couple of days ok so it wouldn't be too bad
what sort of time?

just sayin.Trudat... I think he intends to get a "proper" recording from the sound engineer. Then, along with that if he can get a nice film, I think he has friends back in france who would be able to make both work together...

what sort of time?Isn't the d5000 HD? Not that I really know what that means ultimately, but that sounds like our best option so far!
The "french revolution" evening starts at 7.00pm, but my friend expect to play in second or third, which he reckons should be between 8.30pm and 9.45pm. I will arrive there between 7.30 and 8.00pm.
Let me know if that sounds OK for you...
Ah, other thing, I brought a tripod with me today, not a tiny one, but not a massive one either, strong enough to hold my G9, but I don't know about your Nikon...
Thanks a lot!

I have a tripod I can bring, D5000 isn't big though
it does 720/24p so it isn't proper broadcast HD but its ok, shot this on it

just sayin. Its worth searching timecode in the app store (massive presumption one of you will have an iphone) and see if any of the free or cheap apps on there are of any use.

• #13
i was geeking out at work doing that the other day, didn't want to shell out for any of the slate apps though
-
• #14
Yeah. ive been searching and there is on that would probably do it but its £12 and the main issue is actually getting the TC into the audio recording. I know how to do it for promos where you put timecode onto the audio track then point the camera at your computer screen but not the other way round.
Anyway, it sounds like a laid back affair and im sure that there will be moments to sync up the sound and picture from.....

My only worry is that my camera only shoots in 5 minute at a time
but i've done a little bit for other concerts and its been ok

I dont understand why they do that, its just really annoying, even the 5D Mk2 used to have that feature......

hopefully it'll change with a firmware update at some point
one important question I forgot, will there be somewhere secure for my bike? I don't know the area too well

Hey, you should have at least two camera's to shoot it.. you need one locked off that records everthing, then one free that can roam about and get more intresting shots, its a nightmare with one camera... are they DJ'S or a band

Timing is perfect, I live just up the road in seven sisters, I'll be back there around 6 tonight, so I'll make sure I have a battery charged etc. and head down.
Ashleyh is right, one camera is alright, two is better, guys i worked with before called it the cover you arse shot, means you can cut away whener you want to change the close up angle, plus it can help with syncing the sound

one important question I forgot, will there be somewhere secure for my bike? I don't know the area too wellI'm afraid I don't know, I've never been there before... If it's like the previous concerts in London, there is usually space backstage where bands leave their equipments during the sets. But I don't know if it will be the case, and don't want to promise anything. I am going on my Brompton so I should be fine myself. I will bring a lock anyway, but if you don't feel it, I don't want you to take any risk as you are coming to help...

Good point...
Well, I will be shooting as well, I mean only doing my best which might not be great... My girlfriend has a little camcorder, she will give it a go too, maybe...
It's a band.

Hey dude! What with the weekend adventures I've got planned I might have to skip this. Usually I jump at the chance for some concert photography, but I'm afraid this one won't work out.
I don't have anything fancy, but if you wanted to borrow my 450D with 50mm f1.8 you could. It would do for some okay portraits in low light...
Hi all,
Sorry for such late notice...
My friend Tony and his band are playing tonight here:
They are coming from France for this (it's not their first time in London). They sound like this (Hope you like!!)
YouTube - TV GLORY Havoc Arise official tvglory
*But it will be the first concert for the NEW FORMATION of the band* (they used to be 4 they are now 2) and so far they have no video or even any visual material.
I will take pictures myself, and even try to film a bit however my camera is not really suitable for filming (Canon G9).
As I know the forum is full of talented and generous people, I am asking if someone who knows about filming properly, who has a real camcorder to do so and who would be available to come tonight to do a bit of shouting, would be kind enough to help with this... As what they are paid for this gig hardly covers their cost (petrol + boat + etc...) there is nothing for you in it but free beer (on me) and the satisfaction of helping promising artists!!
Please let me know!!!
Now, of course, any talented and available people are also welcome to come and enjoy the concert without doing nothing!!
Thanks in advance!!
Loic
