I can edit the OP to:
How much time do you spend pedalling in your home like while watching TV?
More interesting that politicians

I tried track standing in my kitchen. I fell over.

Interesting read dispute the lack of turbo training. A positive message I thought.

Turbo Training is now in the house

On which note, does anyone have a recommendation for a vewwy, vewwy quwiet turbo trainer? I'm in a first-floor flat so have to consider neighbours, but I'm also missing out on weekend rides due to my short commute and Pall Mall Red habit.

SkyDancer is too modest to point out that he got name checked by the minister
To get first hand experience of Bikeability, I decided to have a go myself. I very much enjoyed being taught the level 1 and 2 courses by David Dansky of Cycle Training UK. At the end of the lesson, I certainly felt my hand signals had improved and were much more positive.
It can only be a matter of time before "Have you considered Cycle Training?" becomes a regular taunt in the Lower House. If Dennis Skinner were alive today I am sure he would lead the way.

Skinner is alive.

None at all. Always wondered if the training is the same. Doesn't the act of balancing train all sorts of muscles which just aren't exercised when on a turbo?

Skinner is alive.

I've recently installed cycle-priority traffic lights between the kitchen and the sitting room and am hoping to extend the scheme this year to include the toilet and bathroom.

Still standin' henry?
-
• #20
always standing, it's how I get such fine definition on my quadraceps.
-

I can't get a turbo trainer - no space left. I bought one of those Rebook exercise bikes for my wife though and had a go at it.
I got bored and tired.
Still a jolly good exercise. The bike is virtually silent. -

I have rollers set up in the workroom on the side of the house. I used to do about 15Km, before near dying of boredom. But now that I can balance well enough to work the IPod, at the same time, I'm up to 20Km.
Need some easy to get on and off tri shoes though. Near killed myself running up the stairs in my crabon disco slippers, when the baby monitor went off last night.

I had my first clipless moment in the kitchen.
How much time do you spend pedalling, turbo training or track standing at home while watching TV?
A Transport Minister, Theresa Villiers MP ended a discussion about cycling in England in an adjournment debate last Friday with this:
In conclusion, the 19th-century reformer and suffragette, Frances E. Willard, wrote in a preface to one of her books:
"She who succeeds in gaining the mastery of the bicycle will gain the mastery of life."

Positive comments from the Minister. Seems like this government is going to actively promote cycling.
