Where is the nearest train station for getting back, from the map it looks like it'll be Halesworth? Trying to figure out logistics of getting home to Oxford.
-
• #4
We came back from Darsham last time, which is the closest station. If it helps, Diss is quite close and on a different line i think.
-
• #5
Hmm, 4 hours on the train. Might have to give this one a miss :(

Don't blame you, Andy.
Perhaps a route heading through Oxford is in order? -
• #7
Diss is a lovely 30-odd mile ride from Dunwich.

Indeed, there was some talk last year of an Oxford ride that takes a more scenic route after crossing the Chilterns, but it never happened. I still need to do some exploring to find a good route this end, but should have something for this summer. -

Recce on 20th March if anyone fancies it.
-
• #14
20 March is a Sunday yes? I could well be up for the recce as I can't make the actual ride date.
-
• #15
Not sure if I can make the actual date, so could be up for the recce.
-
• #16
Yup, Recce on the Sunday - company would be nice x
-
• #17
Maybe for the recce and more of a possibility for the day light ride.
-
• #18
Sorry Lynx, we've decided to knock this on the head so that a few of us can have a little spin in continental Europe.
I'll probably still do the route on the Recce date if anyone is still interested.
-
• #19
I'd definitely be up for Dunwich-by-day sometime.
-
• #20
On 20th March 2011 if you're free.
-
• #21
No, I'll be abroad then. Oh well, another time.

Oliver
I'm up for this...I wish more were! There's an Audax that day though, 100-odd K at Maidenhead.

braker, are you still planning some reconaissance this Sunday? I'm keen to join if so, so wanted to find out your plan for the ride. Fixed or geared? Average speed? ETD 8am? Do you have navigational aids?
My geared bike is in hospital at the moment so I'd want to go fixed if that doesn't risk holding up a group. I've not done this length of ride fixed before but would be reasonably confident of pushing on.

Hi Dumps, the actual ride is not going ahread as another option popped-up and all those confirmed decided to bail.
I am however still up for doing the route at some point, but probably not this Sunday as the Recce for the Bristol ride is on Saturday. You're welcome to join that if you like else PM me if you want to discuss dates etc.

Sam, I forgot this was abandoned! I just posted on the Marathon ride that I'll probably be doing this instead. Oh well, I suppose it's the long schlep to Blackheath instead.
Ride Cancelled
