  • It does matter though, it's not an issue if I play a version of BAD which is better or worse than a previous BAD line up with regard to our fixture, it's an issue with irregularity and inconsistancy within the leage. My team could end up getting points of BAD and knocking A N Other team who lost against BAD in to a lower play off group but if we would have played the same line up we both would have lost/A N Other team would have won and got points.

For the amount of discussion before the league about 'fairness' and the upmost desire to find the best polo team in London without league systems interferring and potentially skewing the results I'm suprised about some peoples opinions on this as it blows all that previous stuff out the water as far as result fairness goes.

This isn't an attack on you B and it's not in the rules so up to a point you can do whatever you want but I think it was a reasonable request that you stick with players for the play off period. It also raises the point that we need an addition to the rules.

  • What Ed said.

However the same probably applies to my team and any other that needs to use a sub on a regular basis. Using different subs does mean that you have the potential to be stronger against some teams than others, but I feel that this is outweighed by the negative impact of struggling to get any rhythm or style to your team play by constantly changing players.

It's hard work to get regular subs, and if B takes 2 of them out of the equation, it'll just make it harder for the other teams that need someone.

  • those bad tags are really nasty. don't you think dave feels bad having a broken leg and not being able to play. it's horrible that his so called friends write bitchy things like that.

    :(

  • I like that Brendan is using different people all the time. I see it like an experiment.

If B and chums do win the league then maybe it will force people to re-think staying in the same teams all the time and not mixing it up.

Nothing in the rules to say you cant do what youre doing B so keep going.

With that all said, maybe im not taking this seriously enough?

Hops, I would say that they are fairly innocuous, especially compared to some of the other tags in & around the polo forum.

However, I am sure that every single player in the league bitterly regrets the injury to Dave, and is looking forward to seeing him back on court very soon.

+1, especially the part about not taking this seriously enough.

  • Matt, genuine question here, but what is wrong with B picking Em, Emmet and Iain to sub for BAD??
in the league rules says that "All Subs must be non-league players", and neither of them is in the league...
I have always though that proper teams will be superior to teams with subs.

Nothing wrong with it. The problem is Brendan using two subs, a different set of two people for every single game. This is a sentiment that has widespread support, perhaps consensus, court side at NE throwin games by other league players. Apparently they are not speaking up here because they don't want to receive the wrath of Brendan online.

  • And note that no one has said anything about it so far. But there is, in fact, widespread agreement among league players in NE that Brendan should pick two permanent players for the playoffs.

  • This forum isn't your own personal whiteboard matt and i'm really sick of your constant apologies on pm and email, yet your tantrums and foot stomping on here. I don't care what you want or what you think. Is that clear? Stop wasting your time and energy. You constantly spoil what is a nice place with your shit talking and bad feeling. You incessantly write vitriol and negative bullshit and i have no interest in reading it anymore. I've never put a single person or thread on ignore on this forum, but your looking like the first right now. It's very, very unpleasant. You have a bee in your bonnet and always have about BAD, constantly tell me about how many people have beaten us, where we will fail, why we don't / do play better / worse. You would go on and on to Aidan about polo to the point he would leave the room not to speak to you. I always thought it was a joke but i'm quite convinced that your obsessed and mad. You pm'd me last night and i didn't reply. Snoops wrote quite rightly that we should just leave it. Max emailed me and asked me a civil question. I don't write anything on here and you come out insulting me yet again. I think my responses are really clear. Because you don't like them dosnt make them any less valid or any more or less relevant to our euros / worlds records. I'm not even playing with dave and aidan right now. I know this is difficult for a man to understand who has had more team mates than any londoner, but the moment Aidan stopped playing the league broke my idea of BAD and simply became a nice regular set of games for me and Dave, even more so when Dave broke his leg. If I say "yes i will choose the same two people" and then we can't get it scheduled to play our play offs, YOU more than anyone will use that in some form or another. I haven't thought about the playoffs. Iain and I spoke about how much fun it was playing together, it has literally gone that far. It's none of your business and no amount of vitriol will hurry me into making a decision that is my own into a public written decision. I really don't like being called a cock, let alone by a spoilt, twisted man who came to this country introduced himself to me with the words "so your team is the best in London? My team (yet to exist) is going to fuck you up" Really Matt for a supposedly smart man, trying to top a name like BAD with a name like MALICE really is rather transparent. Good luck.

Take a look in the mirror, mate. Since you cannot seem to actually follow a conversation and respond to points that I (or others) have made in attempt to have a conversation with you, I will end with this. You are an egomaniac. And a cock. Fuck off.

(Iain came up with the name Malice. I came up with the International. It was meant to be sound similar to Mallets International for our team consisting of people from three different countries. Get over yourself.)

  • Oh, Brendan, did you get that all out then, or are there other three-year old demerits against me you have are still harboring?

  • Jeeze, BAD is a really cool name. I want to be just like those guys. How can I come up with a very similar name? WORSE Polo? Yes.

  • Touche' :)

  • People aren't speaking up because they are afraid of me online? Moron. Its not what you say it's the way that you write it. [REMOVED the rest, it's a step too far, too personal]

  • Enough!

  • Yeah, Brenden, would you consider picking two people to be regular players for the playoffs? That would be cool. There has been a long tradition, and rules in previous years of the league, I think, that you have to have two players from your three-person team to make it legit/legal. We've all been pretty accommodating for you, and it hasn't been a problem, but it would be cool if you tried to have at least one regular player, two if possible, for the playoffs. Cheers mate.

My first comment to Brendan. Seems quite friendly to me.

  • Enough!

This has to calm down, otherwise I'll ban both of you from the forum, it's getting too personal, too vindictive, and achieving absolutely nothing. Grow up, or get out.

  • For the record, I agree that BAD's members is something that needs to be discussed. I personally think that having a team of 1, and rotating players per fixture, therefore basically a bench minor team, isn't great, but there must be a solution. Such as, for the playoffs, which are going to take a few weeks, brendan should choose some constant subs for those week, whether it be 2 or 3 players from which he can choose, I don't know. That's the point for discussion, not what Brendan and Matt think of each other.

Stop being so personal, stop being cunts to each other, you're both in your late 30's, nearly as old as bill even, you should know how to be civil to each other by now.

  • Friends > Polo > Polo rules.

Anyone could throw a game, sub people out strategically, but we don't... I'm sure Brendan will have a ponder on the best way to play the play-offs, I'm also sure that the purpose won't be to upset other teams or create an "unfair" result.

B, I agree that the team should be as static as possible for a "fair" result, I also realise that you've been left in a tricky situation with BAD Polo, so wouldn't want to push this too much, etc.
