its not about getting my 60 quid back really. i dont want to keep the bike because obviously that way i would be supporting the bike theft...
Isn't paying £60 supporting the bike theft either way? he did complete his task after all (stealing and selling).
must point out that despite this, I do admire your intention, it was nice of you to try and find the owner despite losing £60.

WTF?!?!?
I can't believe you paid someone for a stolen bike, in an attempt to return a bike to its rightful owner, because if you hadn't bought it, someone else would have 5mins later!
Why didn't you just d-lock their face in, lock them to a bike rack and hand them over to the police? Massive fail imo.
You're clearly no better than a bike thief yourself.
Just for future readers reference this ^ is a joke. Which I sort of thought was at least implicit in the 2nd line/1st sentence... and if not then, by the one after that....and pretty much definitely by the one after that!

Hmmm. Bit harsh? Not everyone fancies a tangle with an unscrupulous hoodlum of a Saturday night. Yeah, she probably should have called the cops but equating the OP to the scummer who nicked the bike in the first place is wide of the mark.

I bought bike last night in Dalston from pikey,
racist.
i dont want to keep the bike because obviously that way i would be supporting the bike theft.
what? unlike giving the thieving twat £60?
just one of the cockney white trash
YES WHITE PEOPLE STEAL TOO
racist and racist.
obviously returning the bike to it's rightful owner would be a really good thing to do, but in buying the bike you've given a thief £60. i get the feeling that you were posting on here not in hope of finding the owner, but more in an effort to get us all to say 'WOW, you're a REEEEAAAALLY nice person!'
bit of a waste of £60 if you ask me... just sayin like. -

Fuck me there's some mean spirited stuff on here. No better than a bike thief? Approval seeking? Come on.
The bike thief will get money for that bike one way or another. It's distasteful to have to hand over any cash to a thief but this way there is at least a chance the bike will be returned to its owner. -

bit of a waste of £60 if you ask me... just sayin like.errr no. i dont expect to get any ovations. i thought that this is actually quite a common thing, as my friend had his bike returned that way too and it was through forum. i obvs expect the owner to give me the 60 quid back as its a small price to pay if you can get your bike worth 300 quid back.
oh also, im not even gonna comment on those racist accusation, sorry - below me.
i dont give a damm if you think im a nice person or not. care to help someone that had their bike stolen? no? go bitching on other thread then.
lets just try to focus on why we're on this thread - that is if you know anyone that had their bike stolen, care to help in any way, otherwise give me a break

what if the owner can't afford the £60? will you just keep their bike? you should have just told the police where you saw the guy and given his description. that way, the bike may have been sold to the next person, but at least there'd be a chance of stopping future thefts. -

hahaha, you're so naive
-
• #38
you're the one who just gave a bike thief £60!?

so good to know there are people like you that offer an actual solutions to a problem. if i find the owner (which i hope) i'll tell him your suggestion and im sure he'll send you a thank you email. -

Perhaps the owner could make up the 60 quid doing odd jobs around the house/flat/ garden? (if you have one)
