Police tickets

My missus got caught last night jumping a red light (apparently flashing amber). Besides the point, the penalty notice was incorrectly completed by the officer. The main mistake he wrote down was "Mr" in the details so should I be able to call them up and dispute the ticket is void?

Could be.

I know someone who got caught (it was a good few years ago now) and they spelled his name wrong on the form. When the letter arrived he just sent it back saying nobody of that name at this address. They never bothered chasing it up.
