Sup guys, looking into getting a fix, what's the furthest you can sensibly ride on one?
Hey alchemy (difficult to spell while drunk I'll let you know!)
1stly- welcome! This is the best place you could find for all your neutering questions!
Honest answer is, how far you want to go? I know guys who do London to Brighton. Or overnight rides into the distance. Some travel far and wide to do 24 races all on fixed. If you're in London, you'll see guys who do 20/30 miles every day. Brave, when he pops his head in, will confirm the massive awesome rides he does (though he is shy about this).
As time goes by, you get fitter and stronger and more accustomed to fixed, the easier it becomes! The skill and control you gain will amaze onlookers and yourself. I've seen a guy with either skill or suicide tendencies (or both) dive right into the middle of the Hyde park round about (not wise in Anyones books!) but he jumped and skidded withe the grace of a ballerina.
Riding fixed is addictive. But more importantly, the people on here are awesome. Bikes may bring you here but other things will keep you here. (quoted from someone else on the forum- apologies for inaccuracies and forgetfulness).
Take care, ride safe, and don't forget to read the first post in this thread. We have few rules but guard the ones we do. Find the drinks thread and come have a beer!
