Oh my days. This is shocking. I took my instructors training with Pete, and bizarrely, I was due
to catch up with him next week. How very sad.
I'm so disappointed to learn about this here, as I overlap into Wolverhampton from Walsall!
Well done skydancer, and chin up friend. -

Yes so sad Pistaboy.
I understand from Pete's colleague at Wolverhampton council that Pete's funeral will not be this week. I will post here the details as soon as I find out when it is. -

I will endeavor to be there on the 24th January.
Thanks skydancer.
Peter Rollings passed away on Friday 7th January. He suffered a heart attack while football coaching in Wolverhampton. He leaves behind his wife Marcelle, and his children Dominic and Pascale.
Peter was the Cycle Training Manager for Wolverhampton Council. He also managed the West Midlands Instructor Training Organisation (ITO) and had chaired the Instructor Training Provider group for the past few years. He earned the respect of the cycle training sector due to his measured friendly manner, energy, enthusiasm and dedication to promoting cycling in his region. He acted as link between local authority cycle training schemes and Bikeability. He was known throughout Wolverhampton. Whenever we walked around the town together he had the time and inclination to stop and chat to many people we bumped in to.
He was trained as a cycling instructor by Cycle Training UK when National Standard cycle training was launched in 2003 and was one of the first 100 instructors trained in the country. He set up the West Midland ITO consortium which has trained hundreds of cycling instructors across the region and. He no doubt contributed greatly to the increase in cycling across the midlands.
In addition to his work around promoting cycling he trained and worked as a football coach training his son Dominic's team, Finchfield FC, for many years. He believed that young people should be given all the help possible and encouraged to take part in healthy fun activities and spent his life working to that end.
He was a good friend of mine and I will miss him so much. Especially our weekly chats about cycling and cricket, (we spent 3 days together at Edgebaston watching the Ashes in 2009), our meals in the curry houses of Wolverhampton an Birmingham and our gossip about the world and the politics of cycle training.
His unexpected death is a sad loss to our sector and devastating to me personally.
My thoughts go out to Marcelle, Dom and Pascale.
