The "pairing" process with Orange is naff, yep, but it works with Macs just as well as with PCs.
-

Yeah, they don't like Macs for some reason. Pressed the button, put in the code, did all the stuff, nothing. Got my girlfriends to log in (but not mine), but then the internet just wouldn't work. So weird. Though I have just read that changing the settings from "WEP & WPA" to just WEP, it might work. Lets see...

Unless your Mac is a portable and pre-intel the encryption change won't make any difference.

• #1380
Really? Ethernet it is then...

• #1381
Yep, I have a CS5 one... requires running little snitch or something... you have an FTP site?
Not that I can give you. How big is the file?

did your mac come with a mini-displayport adaptor or DVI?
I use a DVI to HDMI cable to plug my MBP into my TV and it works a charm.
maybe one of these

I'm kinda in the same boat... I think there will be an update within a month nad the 13 will see the biggest change... I really hope they bin off the cd drive to make room for i3 and a decent graphics card... not interested in a 15 inch MBP, already got one I want ot sell and have an external monitor for when at home doing real work.... (forum and facebook at the same time...)
if the 13" gets a big update i'd be all over it. got a 4 year old 15 now, works fine part from that it's too small to work on and too big to travel with

Exactly what I'm thinking, I have a 4 year old MBP too (hope I havent repeated myself there)... I actually hate 15inch laptops... for the reasons you mention... smallest laptop possible and then an external is the best way... fingers crossed for a cd drive less i3 13inch by end of Feb.

What's the best, cheapest , legit way to upgrade from 10.4 to 10.5 ?
I believe that it is not possible to go direct from tiger to snow leopard, is this correct?
I need to upgrade a 2.16Ghz intel core 2 duo Imac to run office 2011
Apparently the £25 disc works fine from tiger to snow leopard.

i don't think they'd take away the disc drive, it would be fucking stupid imo... it would also place it way too close to the macbook air.

For people looking for CS5 go to
You'll find software fully cracked, with links to download sites and many more software titles
(also little snitch for free which is a brilliant app if you don't use it)

or you could try the adobe store :-)

I have no use for one, the extra space ditching it would free up would be great used for either a small SSD to boot from and or faster chipset...
SO there.

haha!
if you want a ssd then get a macbook air. -

You can upgrade directly from Tiger to Snow Leopard as that's what l did using the full retail box version. However, be warned, SL is piece of shit system compared with Tiger. I hear Office 2011 is crap, l'm using Openoffice and it's very good.

if you want a ssd then get a macbook air.SSD + Real power + Portability is what would be ideal.
An Air is underpowered.
SSD means faster boot times and read/write which in turn means better performance.
Don't need an optical drive, it's not 2004. -
• #1396
Fair enough mate..
Optical drives are not obselete yet though. -

can't remember the last time I put a dvd or cd into either of my Macs.. It'll be like when they got rid of floppy's back in the day- I'll worry about it before and then not miss it when it happens
-
• #1398
this is probably very similar to the discussions held when apple ditched the floppy drives from iMacs

la lanterne rouge - the Office 2011 is already purchased and downloaded i'm afraid.. hence the requirement for leopard etc. This is not for me, i'm sticking with tiger for the moment anyway, i'm still on G4 powermacs
Do you need to press a button on the back of the router? have you done this?
