    or mental.

  • I sold a pair of these a while back for £40....What a numpty!

  • condolences Gav..

  • Seen these go for 250 on ebay - now THATS funny..

Some NOS ones went for £246 recently, but you failed to make £185 on t'bay for yours this week, so
a: why do you think you're going to get £170+shipping here and
b: why did you break forum rules by listing them here and on t'bay simultaneously?

  • a) who knows? people are often after speciality items on here too aren't they?
    b) after 1 week of no interest at all on lfgss I'll pursue other alternatives, especially if i spend most of my time entertaining quality posts like yours and bernie bikes..

If you're not remotely interested in any of the items on sale then why even bother posting? regardless of whether you feel the price is unjustified, i feel it is justified based on ebay research. Here's an idea for you, why not go for a long ride and get some fresh air..

  • I'm not bothered by the price, as long as you're not bothered that they won't sell here at that. Breaking the rules of the "For Sale" forum, though, is frowned upon more than anything else on here.

  • fine, no problem I've just enquired about the correct protocol with regards to posting on here before heading over to ebay..

  • Given that they where only £18.99 new from a shop (ie with a warranty and stuff) I'll offer £15 for the bottom bracket.

  • link to the shop mate?
cheapest I've seen them is on parker international so no thanks, keep your 15 quid.

  • cheapest I've seen them is on parker international

    LMGTFY:
    http://www.shinybikes.com/product.php?productid=16326
£31.20, so £3.75 less than Parker without even trying.

  • 12 quid more than gizmonds £18.99 then? plus postage etc etc

  • True, but if he comes round with £15 cash you don't have to pay for P&P. It's a fair offer, and given his status here compared with yours, I doubt that anybody is going to outbid him.

  • "status" now there's a word, you swan about here like the LFGSS mafia! how does 15 quid from 30 equate to a fair offer?

Mdcc, Im over your trolling this thread, you've achieved what you wanted to so go play with your bicycle which must have a much much higher "status" than little old me...

OR drum up more google links pertaining to everything i was trying to sell for folks remotely interested in any of the above.

  • how does 15 quid from 30 equate to a fair offer?

If you'd been asking for £50 (a price charged in some shops for this item) and he had offered you £25, would you still think offering half your asking price was not fair, knowing what you do now about the best retail offers?

The tradition on this forum is that you are selling to friends, even if they are friends you haven't met yet, so prices tend to be 'mates rates'. If gizmond comes round and collects it, you have a no hassle £15 cash in your hand. If you want to realise the highest possible price for it, put it on ebay. After they've had their cut, and Paypal have had their cut, and the post office have taken their slice, and you've properly factored in the cost of wrapping it and carrying it to the post office, you're not going to end up with £15 left over even if you can shift it for close to the best retail offer available that day.

Maybe, like me with some of my sale threads, it has a value to you albeit well below retail, but a value nonetheless. Clearly there's no point flogging your Centaur for £15 if, at some foreseeable point, you're likely to need a cheap Campag BB; you might as well keep it in the parts bin rather than flog it now and then spend the £15 on a Veloce later. If it really is surplus to requirements though, gizmond's offer is fair; it's well above it's value as a door stop, yet sufficiently discounted compared with retail to make it worth his while to come over and get it.

  • Morning MDCC, it amazes me that someone of your "status" will troll a thread like this. The clobber Im flogging is either a specialist item or brand spanking new..

Forum tradition, it is fair to say that i have been solidly ripped off/lied to by a certain member with an elevated "status" as you would put it (but all in all it is a friendly community).

It is clearly my prerogative how much i choose to sell these for but thank you for the economics lesson nonetheless.

    Either:
    a) dibs and item
    b) further hijack/derail my thread by posting links to cheaper alternatives (which i have no problem with at all to be honest)
    c) or go away

    sound reasonable enough?

  • and given his status here compared with yours

The tradition on this forum is that you are selling to friends

Sounds kind of contradictory to me - I didn't think 'status' existed among friends?

  • I didn't think 'status' existed among friends?

I gather it's all the rage among the Facebook generation to tell their 'friends' about their 'status'

  • I wouldn't place much store by that, some of us don't do social networking.

  • If any of you guys know where to find a pair of nice pedals like the ones in here at around 40£
    do let me know :D
