The colour scheme is based on this poster I have here. The poster and photo of the bike, when it's done, will be framed for the lady who gave it to me in honour of the original owner - her late ex-husband who she remained great friends with - they did a lot of touring together on their bikes.
I did identify the year 83/84 - The stickers I ordered from lloyds cycles have a gold outline and are of the 1980's era - stoked on that - good looking out on that mate.
Not sure if i will line the lugs in gold, might ask forum opinion when time comes ;) The lugs are very basic, nice shape n all but very basic. .... presume the frame material i's low end Colombus?? Send a couple shots your way anyways..
I'm afraid that poster is not the same Mercier as your frame. I can be wrong but it seems to be from a local Parisian bike shop, when the other (and main) Mercier (your frame) would have been the larger factory founded and based in Saint Etienne.
Good your frame is from 83/84, as 84 is when things seem to have gone wrong with the name (as they started making supermarket bikes after 85).
Re lug lining (gold on pink mainly), from what I've seen, it appears on the more elaborated lugged frames, like on this picture:
