Clive.
If I design your training diary to look like this forum, will that encourage you to fill it in?Have some kind of rep system and you're guaranteed to get it filled in, probably with a few cliveo witticisms thrown in for free.

Not a bad idea though is it?
I could tailor the look of rider's logs to make them mirror their favorite internet sites* in order to provoke a positive response to written feedback.
*Hang on, I can see this getting out of hand!

No feedback, no program. Simples*.
*that's me fucked then

Can't prescribe without it, hippy.
Coaches who claim to offer "training programs" which aren't reliant on regular and frequent rider feedback are quacks.

First time on a bike for 7 weeks, and hour round regents at reasonable pace and feel ok today.

Can you just take a copy of his garmin data for each ride?
-
• #1109
I love getting Garmin or power data from riders, it really saves time when analysing over longer periods of time, but it's a useful addition rather than the whole story.

OKay, okay. I'll get to it.
Just at the moment I am coughing my guts out and feeling crap after another sleepless night and about the tenth day of this lurgy. On any basis I am not likely to be training for a few days. Positive: have now lost 4lb since the beginning of the year.

I just pulled my hamstring. Feels serious.

That's not good Rob. Have it looked at and rest it.
E-mail sent.

Me & Jaygee are back on it as of last weekend though. We went out and did the Biggin Hill loop, and managed it in the same time we were doing it at the end of last season (give or take a few minutes)... so that cant be all bad. Jason was dragging me round most of the way though. Will hopefully be out on the road most saturdays & sundays until the season starts. unless it gets cold again. Then i'll be staying in bed.
meanwhile, while you were in bed, me and jay were out almost every weekend.
I'm fat as fuck though

I've kept up some quality cardio, running consistant sub 40 minute 10K's, which considering i havent run for over 6 months, I'm pretty happy. The gym work is going great, but i need to carry it all over to the bike..... soon
If you want to go quick on a bike don't run, especially if u want to sprint!

How's your training Lee? Heard you had/were having another op?

I just pulled my hamstring. Feels serious.
- When asked "how are you?" while riding you must proceed with one of the following...
- Complain about coming off a sickness.
- Explain you're peaking for bigger races later in the season
- Mention that this is a "recovery ride"
- That you are on the tail end of your daily 6 hour training ride
...
- If in doubt, the euro cyclist shall mention in an interview that his pollen allergies are acting up, and that he’s not sure that he’ll win the Giro this year. In this situation, remember to note that the sensations are otherwise good, and that eventually you’ll win a beautiful stage.

Busted.
The thing was, with all the snow, and travel, I wanted a quick fix. I tend to think a little irrational when i can't exert.....Cheers for your email last night - I had no idea of the extent of that injury......

Dunno about that, how many euro roadies pull hamstrings doing squats? It's a lot better this morning incidentally, a day or two's more rest and I will be able to kill the world.

Why is this? Surely depends on the type of running you're doing, no?

Where is that list from?
I used all of these excuses on a ride yesterday (replacing the 4th one with it being my 4th straight day of riding rather than the 6 hours) and was promptly dropped on te next climb! I feel so pro!
On a more serious note, I'm feeling good, done 8 hours training so far this week and now enjoying a rest day, just need a good weekend to cap a good week.

4 days on the trot is pretty good going. Don't you have any work to do?

Good man! Evan Oliphant will be impressed if you tell him that soon you'll win a beautiful stage.
There are several versions of these rules. There is an early one on this site: http://www.lfgss.com/thread2693.html
My favourite one is: http://vanderkittenliz.blogspot.com/2008/03/current-obsessions-2-official-rules-of.html
There is also a Facebook group, but I think it has had too many extra rules added now. Forum and photos are quite good though: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2258201150
Finally it would appear that 'Velominati' took a copy of them, added loads of rubbish ones and went on to claim that they own them. You can read their version at: http://www.velominati.com/blog/the-rules/ but I wouldn't bother.

Was just reviewing last years training/racing diary, to see if I need to tune this years training plan.
Entry the night before the one and only race I won last year:
"Stayed up late for a race night (3am), due to seeing gig in oxford. Drank one guiness and one prosseco. And ate lots."Winning formula?
Well normally you shouldn't stretch before exercise, except for some light dynamic stuff if you're so inclined, but I'd make an exception here - HOWEVER, make sure the stretching is done at least an hour before proceedings, otherwise:
the warm post-stretch glow might make you sleepy and listless (a state best saved for after relations)
power is reduced, so if Mrs O was in the mood for a strongly thrusting type of intercourse, you might fail to deliver.
