Non bike people don't really care. It's all about cost and fear of bike shops.
Two of my friends went and bought Tesco bikes last year even though I strongly advised them against it. I even offered to help them get a cheap solid bike just so they didn't go down the Tesco route. No dice. The deciding factor was cost and the fact that they didn't want to go into a bike shop because they felt they would get talked into spending more money than they wanted to.
Apply same factor to those Create bikes which tend to be sold outside normal channels. At least people are riding them.
