Faceplant? There's a potential of faceplant with almost all type of brake. Use brakes properly and all will be fine. Select correct disc size for application. Easiest small size to get is a 160mm which is used regularly on XC. Smaller might be better suited for the road but then you struggle on availability.
Problems - finding a fork that fits the frame and also having disc mounts. Most track bikes have tight clearances, most disc ready fork I know of are made for CycloX so have big clearances. The difference in rake/axle-crown length will have an effect on the handling characteristics.
Brazing on a set of mounts is another possibility, but then you'd have to make sure the forks could handle the new forces imposed on them by the brake.
