Mtb is much better for the upper body and core than road cycling.
Possibly my hardest core work out last year was the Thames path when it was covered in ice, constantly trying to maintain balance as the bike slipped all over the place.
I go to the gym for yoga and pilates to help with core strenght and flexibility.
Sadly neither is that good for working on the show/beach muscles, so despite getting down to 7% body fat last year the 6pack still eluded me.
