Hey - was on here a couple of years back until crashing in fairly unspectacular fashion, but I return.
Just about to start converting my old Il Pirata style Bianchi Mega Pro to fixed so there may be a few questions about chainline etc.
Looking for some rides; roadie or fixed. I live about 100m from the (in)famous Swaines Lane so let me know if you're about for some hill sprint action. I regularly see people struggling up the Col de highgate on a week night so guessing there may be drinks at the Flask sometimes?
Cheers,
Lex

Welcome Lex.
Sorry to hear about your unspectacular crash. I personally like mine to be spectacular. You are right, there are drinks at the Flask and you should join them for some. There is also a nutter group who loves the hills, so ask around and you will find. (in other words, speak to brave - he knows everything about hills!)

Cheers - yeah it involved an Addison Lee car hitting me at about 6 mph, me rolling across the bonnet and flopping off the other end, enough to f*ck my bike though. I promptly decided fixed gear was for hipsters and went back to my gears. I'm now missing the fitness and of course being, like, totally rad. So I'm back.

Totally rad is sick! So sick its awesome!
That sounds like a decent story but you do need to embelish a bit. Make it 60 not 6... And that you were in costume.
But welcome back to the fold. Once a fixie skidder, always a fixie skidder... We wont let you leave.

Hi folks.
Currently lurking an hour NW of Glasgow, but am in London on the borisbikes fairly regularly. Have a knackered old BSA SS lump of metal, but am mainly on a geared Sutra at the moment. Partly because its brakes/studded tyres actually have some kind of slowing effect when applied...
Standby for pics in the winter bikes thread.

joined a few days ago trying to get my nursery status removed, building my first fixie have a nice old frame 27 inch wheels on it really want some 700c wheels on it will it make much difference to if if i get some for them. love this forum so many nice bikes to see.

It will look a bit odd with 700c wheels, the clearances between the wheels and frame will be large. You can try and get some 27'' wheels, but they're harder to find and harder to find parts for if they break/you get a puncture. So it's up to you, the 27'' will look better but are a bit more hassle.

Hi everybody,
This forum is so cool! It seems to be The forum to read in town ;)
I used to ride an old vintage frame converted to fixed gear in Lille, France.
I moved to London last November. My bike is still in its train-bag but I'll use it very soon, during weekends and to go to work. I just wanted to feel more confortable with the traffic hehe
I hope I will meet some of you on the road!
See you!
