PM'ed.

Bolt cutters? hack saw? freeze spray and hammer?
Personal fav - thermite

• #132
I'm only doing it for the "copious tea and toast".
:D -

I don't know if bolt cutters will do it. It's heavy duty, hardened steel stuff. A hacksaw will probably be best.

Texted.

Yay! Thank you so much.

Aaaaand... still looking. A very valiant attempt by nuknow and friend to cut it (thank you guys!), but it's majorly hardened steel. Something electric?

AlienMo I've sent you a PM that may help.
-
• #139
Alienmo was that you I saw in Evans Spitalfields this morning looking mightily cheesed off? I have to say I noticed you plight and did wonder what the hell you were going to do about it. Bummer that you'll end up having to fork out for a new abus when you finally sort it too. Good luck with it. I hope it works out!

Have you got a spare key? Could you get a magnet to get the snapped bit of key out?
-
• #141
is it not possible to work the remainder of the key out with something like a pair of needles or snipe nosed pliers?
-
• #142
If you're really stuck and definitely need an angle grinder and are prepared to go through a bit of hassle to pick it up from SE22 PM me.

Yeah, that was me. Thank you for the well wishes!

Thanks for all the help guys! I may have found someone with a portable angle grinder that I'm going to go see tomorrow. Hopefully it will work. If it doesn't, goodhead - I will definitely PM you.
You are all awesome.

Good luck! FYI - the angle grinder I have is a mains one but a) I'm not ever at my house so you'd need to arrange to pick up from a forum member who also lives there b) You may need a new blade for it as it's in the cellar and probably hasn't been used for 5 years.

I failed, miserably.
Tough as nails, how do they cut through those locks in seconds!!??
I put all my weight on those things and it hardly scratched.... -

I've heard horror stories of needing 8 blades, so I would come prepared. We'll see how it goes tomorrow though.
Argh.

Where is your nearest Fire Station?
Those dudes love practicing with their jaws of life, they'll do the lock for the price of a pint or two. -

Don't ring 999 though, obvs.

I have an angle grinder, but is puny as is for brickwork - but make sure you wear some safety glasses as metal sparks/chards in eyes hurts (I know from bitter experience!).
Haggerston Dalston?
