why not v2?

forks?

jv: I think I'd be slightly better suited to the V1 geometry and I also just prefer the look of the V1 chainstays and lack of rear brake drilling.. MOstly just personal choice! However I'd possibly consider a V2 until a V1 came along. You have one? Cheers mate
Dovvles: I'm going to have to wait and see if there are some going with the frame.. Otherwise I'll have to get on the fork case aswell! Cheers dude
Otherwise still looking..... (and probably shall be for a while yet!!) cheers folks

i think the reason forks were mentioned is because the forks on the v1 are aesthetically superior to those on the v2.

Thanks irisque, my alcohol fuzzed brain still not ticking over properly but of course you're right.. Dunno what they were thinking with the V2 ones...

You'd need something like the large V2 (and I know you're not looking for one).
If it any consideration, the V2 felt the same as the V1, just a different fork (waiting for my V1 fork with canti to arrived).
You can always removed the rear brakestay.

Dunno what they were thinking with the V2 ones...
Simply that they're superior and easier to produced than the V1 one, and can be used on their other 700c bicycles (launchpad, the alfine one etc.).
Plus it's a pretty good fork, didn't feel like a heavy trick fork which is saying something.
still prefer the V1 fork mind, it's the finishing touch of the gangsta.

they moved the production to taiwan for the v2 did they not?
-
• #18
Ja they did that. Think it was so they could keep the price at a competitive level and apparently the craftsmanship is just as good, a couple of reviews said the welding was actually better..
Ed, thanks for the advice. I read that you bought the V2, would you still consider a V1 over the V2? I do agree with you on the fork front though, the V1's definitely made the bike.. I did read that they stopped making them though, I gather they're back in production again? Or did you manage to persuade them to sort you out with a set :)? -

Back in production; I have V2 with original fork, it's great. Some pics from the setup:

Quite frankly, it felt like the same bike, I went for the V2 because I can afford it and the claim improvement (better tubing, etc.).

Cheers Ed, I'll keep that in mind if I don't win with my search, I'm probably being too OCD with my wants.. Can always take a wander to TFG in the end and relieve my wallet of some weight there ;)
Your ride is seriously sweet Lars, those forks really define it.
I did spot a Gorilla Kilroy for sale though but think I won't do the trick frame justice! -
• #23
I think you are being too OCD, there's very little difference between the two frame, the V2 is the next step in evolution.
Seriously though, let me know if you wish to borrow mine to get a good feel of it.
You can always talk to TFG about obtaining a custom order from BMW for a V2 with V1 fork.

Did you have a V1 a while back ed? I remember seeing a photo of a really rusted and rat looking one?
Might just be me making stuff up.... :| -

No, Scott kindly lend me his Gangsta V1 for a week or two so I can decided whether I want one or not.
Hey folks, long shot here but I was wondering if anyone has a 46cm Brooklyn Gangsta V1 they'd be willing to sell? Let me know and many thanks, Tom
