I suspect that Joe was confusing jism and gist in his gushing adoration of the poilce.

While it is correct that some police officers are good and others bad, as Sir Robert Mark observed many years ago, one rotten apple ruins the barrel. There are too many corrupt police officers whose activities are condoned by their superiors. Look at the incident of the police officer who removed her shoulder tags during the recent student demonstrations. Look at the imbecilic behaviour of the police when driving those minor royals to the theatre. Look at the assault that Platini links. The police are supposed to represent the community that they serve. In this they too often fail.
