What do people recommend in terms of wet weather gear? I've got a waterproof ladies Madison jacket which is just brilliant and keeps me dry on the top half but the last couple of days I've realised I'm lacking in the bottom half department.
I don't really own much in the way of cycling specific garms even though I've been using my bike as my main mode of transport for about the last 2 years. As I have to wear fairly formal stuff at work I just tend to wear shorts or skirts with thick leggings/footless tights which has usually done the job. The last couple of days though it hasn't...cycling with a soggy bottom is no fun, even if you can have a hot shower at the other end!
What do people recommend in terms of trousers/leg wear etc for really heavy rainy days? Other people have just told me to get some waterproof over trousers but I hate them. Anything else? Have been looking at these trousers on swrve - does anyone else have them: http://swrve.co.uk/softshell%20trouser.html
Any other top tips?

Can anyone tell me if endura baabaa t-shirt is long on the body?
Long like helly hansen stuff? -

Admittedly slightly tenuous/OT, but today’s episode of On Your Bike on Radio 4 had some interesting things to day about the bicycle shaping women’s clothing in the late 19th, early 20th century.

Endura baabaa not as long as smelly Hansen, caution shrinks easier than other merino tops too.

ooh. tempted by the wind jacket. damnit why don't I have more money...
-
• #212
oh no I just got paid today...bad bad bad.

the wind jacket is the best thing ever. I wear all the time, winter with loads of layes and summer when it gets chilly. I just bought the classic softshell that I was dreaming about but always thought that it was too expensive

Do they not ever do womens stuff in the sample sales?
-
• #215
The sample sale back at the end of January begin of Feb I got a long sleeve jersey someone picked up for me .They said there were quite a few pieces in the womens stuff.
Though not sure when the next sample sale would be but I say it would be worth a look. -

I got some stuff in the sample sale, but there were no wind jackets or softshells that I could see...

I think the sample sales are yearly? Or maybe bi annually?
Does anyone have the Rapha ladies padded shorts?
I'm touring for 2 months, which is expensive, but I'm wondering if my behind would appreciated me spending £60 on some padding, or whether there's not that much difference from others / it all depends on the individual?
-
• #218
if touring i would suggest you get some kind of padded shorts
probably a couple of pairs as they should really be clean for each day
if the pads in the womens ones are the womens equivalent to the cytech pads in the mens bibs then they should serve you well.
bibs/shorts are a bit like saddles though and some people prefer the pads in different brands (both assos and rapha use pads made by cytech, but they use different models of pad)

Wicksie, if you can afford it go for assos H F1 S5 - although it hurt my bank balance - my backside no longer hurts, they are a revelation.

Eessh, can not afford sadly. I can't really afford full price Rapha ones either so need to get them before midday if I do.
I have 2 pairs already but one is going in the bin as they're v uncomfortable.
So defo getting another pair, but £60 on blind faith? Thanks guys btw ^^.

Ok, so can I get some padded shorts recommendations ladies?
Clefty's Assos H F1 S5 'are a revelation' is probably hard to beat however.
Apparently Stella McCartney has made some (ffs)

the women padded shorts at the sale were 20 pounds and they has all sizes
they also had loads and loads of jerseys. they din't have any softshells and sometimes they do have wind jackets xs for men that fit perfectly on women
Wicsie. I love the rapha ones, the pearl izumi are pretty good too. The sugoi were padding in the wrong spot so the were not good for me. everyone is different so is a bit of hit and miss.
Everyone i know loves the assos too but i have never tried them -

they are good `i have not got loads of experience but this ines {R} the best that I had. the ones at the sale now ones are bibs so is not that much expensive as bibs were 40 in the sale and they and were all mens, as far as I could see because in the sale mess I could only see the obvious. if you can, call them and ask them if you can go and try them on. I went today because I couldn't work out the size of the softshell, you can ebven exchange stuff if it doesn't fit you. I don't work at rapha but they were always nice tome and they don't know me. i hope that this helps
