Apart from that, being hipster IS about being fake (or ironic).
It's not about wearing a cardigan and NHS glasses, because you're a nerd with an overprotective mother. It's about taking on the whole style while winking "hey, I'm not really like that, but only other hipsters like me will know that and most builders from Yorkshire and middle aged Black women will think I'm a greasy twat."
