For ditchling I recommend a refuel at the bridlway before then go for it. Its so much easier with a liesurly break for a couple of hours prior in ditchling..with a proper cream tea two scones and one plain and one fruited.
I tried twice to do the run, in one hit but never managed to do it, but then I wasn't as strong as I am now. I love the bit in to brighton on that road it reminds me of quadraphenia.
Amazing weather for a ride, it was lovely both saturday and sunday, glad I took the bike and not the car makes it so much nicer.

I was on 96, piss easy, what gear did you use in your Ford Transit, 1st, 2nd?

I just checked, the last couple of times I went up Ditchling were on 34/21, or a massive 43.7".
I would like to point out that this was during the London to Brighton BHF ride, when you cannot get a decent head of speed up.
That's my excuse and i am sticking to it.

I think my gearing up Ditchling is usually clicking down from 30/21 to about 30/25.
On a geary triple, no less. :)

Wow 84 how did you find turners hill on 84?
EDIT the steel fixed is on 77 and the road geared is 48 or 53 and I wouldn't like to try that on tired legs, chapeau to you.
