Look, its great that the cabbie 'got his' and everything, but as cyclists and individuals, i don't think relying on the the police force or any arm of the state is anyway to protect ourselves / make is safer on the roads. Bullyboy motorists need to be held accountable for their actions and often there is no proof that would hold up in any court to have any repercussions for the driver, even if statements are taken by the cops. More numbers on critical mass, more aggressive cycling, lets ride in the middle of the road not the gutters
