I had an awesome time working in Bangalore, but it's not exactly what you'd call scenic. Mysore is much prettier. If you do end in in Bangalore, I heartily endorse Peco's - which is an cracking bar that plays 70s rock off bootleg cassettes and serves tasty food and cold beer.
