Blimey! Have been looking at Subway 2's for a friend and they go for about £150'ish used so £199 new is superb value. In honesty there's not really anything wrong with the bikes at the prices you pay it's more the poor customer service/ maintenance knowledge that is the issue imho.

Yep - I meant I hate Haulfrauds for exactly that reason, rather than the bikes themselves. I'd commute on one for that. Paid more for winter training wheels!

^ Edinburgh Cycles are doing some bloody good discounts at the moment.
Also Kona Smoke for only £199. My mum surprised me at christmas by saying that she wanted to get into leisure/leisurely cycling so this is what I recommended. It's the most suitable bike I could find for £200 anyway.

I had a Subway 8 which I bought ex-display for £200. After about 13 months the frame cracked all around the bottom bracket:
So, I stripped it down and put all the bits on the bay
I think I got about £180 or so for all the parts, so it worked out as an alright deal really.

Oh, but I totally agree with the useless service.
They hadn't tightened the bolts properly on the rear wheel, so the first time I really pushed on the pedals (about 2 minutes from the shop) the nuts slipped in the dropouts and scored them - meaning that the wheel would just keep slipping along those score marks the whole time I had the bike.

It was still a bargain though, so I'm not really complaining :)
Hate them though I do, Haulfrauds are doing a good deal on disc Subways.
And a 1/2 price handy ratchet tool set.
