It's the fucking charges for bikes which mess everything up. The best I could figure from Lufthansa is that they won't charge below 20kg, and it's 10 Euro per kg over (if your bike is your only luggage), BUT, I'm skeptical... Can totally see arriving at the airport and having to pay 70 Euro, each way. Flybe was really vague if I remember ('bikes only carried if we have room...')
