  • +1. This is where I shopped the last time. Humanrightsinfringementalicious.

    fixed.

  • Has Chris seen this thread yet? Or has he flounced after the Proper Leather Shoes incident?

  • Chris' whole life is a flounce one way or another.

  • When I was living in Brighton I went to this bloke http://www.greshamblake.com/ to have a suit made for a launch for something or another. It's probably the most expensive item I've ever bought and I regret it terribly. Granted it was interesting and seemed fun at the time but I've worn it out of the house a total of three times and for the money I'd much rather have had something with a bit more longevity:

I would kill for a Kilgour.

  • Same here. Kilgour are the tits.

  • ^^The most handsome man who ever lived would look pretty good in anything though. Even, possibly, the laughable shit that Crisp Crush goes on about.

  • Has Chris seen this thread yet? Or has he flounced after the Proper Leather Shoes incident?

    He'll be back...

  • He always is.

  • Like a bad case of pinworm.

  • Spencer Hart for suiting.
    Berluti for shoes.
Various Jermyn Street stores for shirts.
Knitted ties - always knitted ties.
Only ever a maximum of two types of cologne and never a "designer" one. For me it's Silver Mountain Water by Creed (generally in winter) and for the Summer months Acqua Di Parma. Simple and classic. And you don't smell like every other tosser on their way to the local cattle market.

  • Lavender Water, Curzon Cologne or GFT all from Trumpers to make me smell a little better. I agree with Paul, not wearing what ever is currently being most heavily marketed makes one a little more distinct from the average joe, plus I have actually been stopped by people wanting to know where to buy the above fragrances.

Knitted Ties rule, my favourite is from Hermes, it is not just reversible but each side is a different colour, so works with a wide variety of shirts.

  • i had a tie once.
the relationship came to a tragic end, unfortunatley.

  • Who on God's earth wants to smell like P Diddy's pits or David Beckham's golden balls? All of these "trendy" fragrances generally smell like shit and last about 20 minutes. Still, with millions in the bank I don't suppose either of the aforementioned gentlemen wear their own product.

Knitted ties are so much more interesting that their woven silk counterparts.

  • I was speaking to a guy at new years who is training to become a tailor on saville rowe, and he said that the best quality trousers and often suits on the high street are M&S, he said with a little help from your tailor you can turn them into something excellent. Which seems a sage advice to me, a key being to have a decent tailor I guess. I like Burberry original for something that is widely available but I find not too common.
Also nothing beats trawling ebay for top quality stuff and basement prices!

  • I had a beautiful navy knitted hermes tie that I pilfered from my dads car. It did NOT take well to being put in the washing machine by mistake.

  • I was speaking to a guy at new years who is training to become a tailor on saville rowe, and he said that the best quality trousers and often suits on the high street are M&S

He obviously isn't going to make a very good tailor.

  • Didn't our very own Savile Row suited VinylVillian also mention the high quality of M&S slacks and suits?

  • There's no doubt about the quality of M&S trousers and suits. I've posted elsewhere how for a long while they were essentially Paul Smith gear; perhaps not made to the same cut and finish as his top line, and maybe not the very best of materials, but he saw fit to oversee for a long while the design of M&S menswear, but without shouting about it. High praise indeed.

  • Always need a bit of Tweed in your life

  • i need and love the smell of their sandalwood

+1 to getting high street or 2nd hand bespoke suits tweeked by a tailor

@cyoa getting suits made that are fun and interesting are a mad idea. specifically made overly tight or baggy is such a waste.

  • ...your jealousy will get you nowhere.

Trudat. I need to stop being jealous of you.

  • Gerald

The sandalwood is another one I use, very warm and soft. The Spanish Leather is several shades of awesome too, it is reminiscent of imperial leather, in a similar way to Prestat chocolate being reminiscent of Cadbury's. It is a little weird though when occasionally a pretty woman will ask what I am using as it reminds them of their father/grandfather. (I hope that is not the smell of incontinence.)

Shall we start a perfumed ponces thread?

  • i need and love the smell of their sandalwood

    I love this stuff.

  • Shall we start a perfumed ponces thread?

    There's already a scent/perfume thread somewhere...
