  • Sunday bloody Sunday, could each of you provide RV with the first months rent ? I think we'd agreed to provide 40 quid each ( or what you can afford ) which should be enough to cover two months, thereabouts.

I hope to be down in the evening possibly early morning. I have a plug in SDS, some hammers, some wood saws, I will bring this all down!

  • Extension leads, masonry bits and rawl plugs, screws , step ladders , crowbars , hammers , and stuff for wiring .

    Ok, I think I have...

Cordless drill with two batteries & wood and masonry drill bits
Corded hammer drill w/ wood and masonry drill bits
Somewhere I also have some Piranha masonry bits, I'll have to dig those out
    Wood and metal hacksaws
I'll have to have a look around and see what else I've got.

Cheapest places for screws/rawlplugs etc is probably Screwfix right?

  • What time we meeting at the warehouse?

  • Rv remember there was loads of pallets and long bits of wood out the back of mackays!

    i will bring,
    Hammer,
    corded hammer drill+bits.
    wood saw
a box of screws and rawl plugs

  • Right, I'm bringing my camera along. We are so going to be on that website.

  • Whilst pedalling back home from polo me and Taxi discussed the new court and we thought it would probably be a great idea to have an 'events manager' type person to organise polo events in our new court to make the most of it. We thought of holding events for polo people who couldn't make certain tourneys, like for example 'aggrieved masters' when the grief masters is going on. Im betting people are keeping diaries clear over these weekends which means a higher probability we can attract poloers to our city. What are your thoughts? I think I'd be up for doing this, but only if you lot agree to it.

  • I was thinking the same , celebrating mediocrity ...........

  • I was thinking the same , celebrating mediocrity ...........

I love celebrating mediocrity. That's why I come to polo, to celebrate my mediocre playing ability.

  • Blessed are the meek

  • I think we should have a throw in 4 hour tourney, kind of like the 24 hour one ric was talking about on this thread........
were points go to player and not to teams, the person with the most points at the end wins..what do people think? maybe on the following sunday the 9th i think (oh, just happen to be when rouen is!)
maybe invite some people up for this?

  • (oh, just happen to be when rouen is!)

    Toys, Cot, Throwing...

Yeah I'm all over this! Let's open a registration though rather than invite, wouldn't want people to think we have favourites.

I will make a small poster thing, letting people know! when should i put it up? should we let rv know first?

    Toys, Cot, Throwing...

its not on the same weekend, amsterdam is that weekend!

  • so i have done some maths (head hurts now!)

and with 24 players, if we have 8 minute games, then people will play every 3osomehting minutes,
so you will get 2 games every hour and that means 8 games overall! (in 4 hours)
then i was thinking that the top six players can have a throw in and play each other, just for a laugh!
or we could just play some more maybe another hour.
so if we say meet at 12 an then play till sixish would that work?
do people think sunday is best for this or would saturday work better? i know people tend to work saturday, but then people may have work monday!

With 24 players, I think you'd easily get 10 from Cambridge. That means 14 from further afield. That sound right? Too few? Too many?

  • I don't know either way, just wondering. A bit of a non-point really. I'll go back to being a grease monkey.

  • (I just freed a seized pedal with a well placed wrench and a wind up swing with a polo mallet, amazing what you can use these things for. Wrench flew across my bedroom like a rocket)

  • Josh if you want I can give you a hand with calculations...

    24players / 6 per games = 3 games if big shuiffle

    9min games + 1min chnage = 10min / 60min = 6gamesperhour

    4h x 6gph = 24 games in total / 3 gpp = 4 games per player

for me the rule of thumb is that 20 player per court max, that is the ideal in any tourney, you can handle more but you start loosing time on court

  • but tourney on the 12-13th February as well right, international with team(s) from Copenhagen, the guys need to know dates with 5-6weeks ahead so they can get cheap flights..... plus that weekend is the weekend after karlsruhe so doesnt clash yet with too much else....

yeah, this will just be a bit of fun, maybe a couple small prizes, etc.... just to show everyone are court and welcome us to are new polo home!

ric do you think 4 games per player is enough, would that make it worth people coming down from london etc?
as we only have the one court, people won't get that much time?

maybe it is just better to have a throw in tourney with 8 teams, something like that?
