I live in Chorlton so will keep my eyes open, although I suppose it's unlikely so be seen around there given that's where they nicked it from.
Anyway bad luck, and best of luck with the search.

I think you are conflating "Burgers" and "Burglars".

What's vegan got to do with it...?

Contains the words "van" and "eg". So it explains the whole story itself.

Nope, it's not that one. This is as close as I can get but is the short wheelbase version:
His was / is about half as long again.
What's vegan got to do with it...?
A lot of people know him from his cooking. He used to own the Vegan restaurant in Ashton and Paula his partner used to run the vegan kitchen up at the Globe in Glossop for a while. Besides it was a shameless appeal to the kind hearted bunny lovers to keep an eye out.
How was it locked?
I don't know. Normally with a couple of dogs in the back which have saved it before now on a few occasions in town when people have chanced it while he's been playing. It looks so unlike a works van with the large sunflower head behind the drivers seat that I fear it was somebody that has been watching him for a while after the PA.

Not really. Most of his and his partners kit is safely in the flat thank goodness. It was more the art, flyers, and those bits that you collect along the way. The really nice stuff (harmonicas) are always moved. The PA is a large bit of kit and moving it late at night involves a lot of locking and unlocking unless you have a co driver. Besides, how exactly do you get your kit to a gig without putting it all in a van?
It's not the sort of van you would take for a joy ride, is slower than me on a bike and just not the sort of thing you would be able to sell on. It's even got an ice cream hatch type side window on it and a chimney for the wood burning stove out the top.

Just heard today that the police have found the van. Unfortunately it was scrapped the same day it was stolen by the bugger that nicked it. Needless to say the police are having a few words with the scrapyard. The police have also confirmed that this is the second vehicle stolen in 5 days from the same road in Chorlton.
None of the kit in the van has been recovered so it's now a case of seeing if any of the kit shows up on the second hand market. The main items are:
Effect peddles:
BOSS DD3
BOSS PS3
Akai 'Headrush'There were a couple of other peddles but friends have donated spares for these and they are that common that they would be impossible to pick up amongst the legitimate market.
Amp:
Polytone (Not many of them about)Speakers:

Hi Folks,
Some of you may know Robin Sunflower (he plays every last Wednesday of the month at Big Hands and is well known on the Manchester music sceen), committed vegan, master harmonica player and all-round sound as a sound thing type of guy. Just had a text from him saying that his van has been stolen in Chorlton. While normally a pain up until last year this was his home so an awful lot of his personal life is in the van. If you're out an about can you keep your eyes open and let us know if you spot it. Details are:
Reg: K431 GAU
White Dodge 50 (bigger than a transit) with a black expedition type roof rack, few spots of rust around doors and very much looking like a hippy wagon.
Kit in the van:
Polytone amp
Soundcraft PA mixer
Pedal board (very distinctive, made out of an old desk and covered in musician union stickers, sampler and about 5 other effects)
2x JBL EON Speakers (grills are a little kicked in)
This is his livelihood as the kit are all the tools of his trade and he will not be able to gig until the kit is found or replaced. If you see anything then please give him a call on: 07747 one one 7698
I know normally we don't like cars and things but this really is the exception to make the rule.
Thanks folks.
