Had one earlier this year - coming down Woodborough Road in Nottingham (equiv gradient to Muswell or Highgate hill) and my cleat just popping out. Kept the bike up and straight and jammed my foot into the rear wheel - shoe was fucked, but i was ok. Decent trade off...
