  • just read all the above about no1 and, honestly, wtf?? the guy is new and asked for advice when he didn't understand the rules. as far as i can see he has done absolutely nothing wrong, am i missing something? he didn't know so he asked, things then spiralled out of his control (his comments after the question and advice clearly show him trying to do the best thing) and he lost a sale. this forum is different to others and it can be hard to understand the full rules as a newbie. i have never sold anything so i never had to read the rules about the classifieds but surely he can be forgiven for missunderstanding and even asking for advice!? anyway, rant over, as you were.

Tim, there's some super nice people on here and there's people on here with nothing more in their lives than the forum and being bike geeks. I scored a heavy flogging first few posts and learned over time the good people on here go 'bout their lives riding and enjoying bikes...... I see balki and a few others have said you got nothing to worry about and they have been on here for a bit. Anyways, who the fuck is so SHITHOT enuff in the world of FGSS to say "not the way things are done round here" ....... saw that written by a few people, get a grip!

  • Dibs works. Dibs are transparent and clearly time-stamped.

If you disagree you're basically an IKEA bag of cocks.

    It would be called 'deferens'

  • ..there's some super nice people on here and there's people on here with nothing more in their lives than the forum..!

    summarised that for you ;)

  • So KC makes a mistake, admits it and is forgiven and I get burned every time.

The clue is 'every time', remember the story about a boy who cried wolf?

  • He returns!

  • Fo-Po (forum-police) vs No.1

£5 on No.1, the under dog but a moral victory.

  • i was wondering what happened to johnny and then I came across this interesting sale thread,

this Sideshow alias looks like johnnyrau is back. typical behavior.

comes to forum for advice, then tries to sell to forum what he failed to sell on ebay
posts link to jd ebay listing instead of his own.
no actual photos, " wheels are already boxed", then misteriously finds old photos. so johnyrau

    sale thread

    johnnyrau ebay sale

    same price on both.

  • Good work Columbo.

Send Hippy a PM to swing by with the ban hammer.

  • Yeah, I scratched my head a few times when I read the OP of that thread.
Didn't (want to) know that it was JR/JL.
You can say many bad things about the guy, but he's not a quitter!

  • He's a tenacious little f*cker.

  • Not sure what to make of this:

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread55003.html

*edited *seems to have clean disappeared after agreeing to sell me a saddle. No money has changed hands so I'm not sure what to think.

    Does anyone know edited?

  • ^Regardless of how that may be interpreted.
I don't think it warrants a tag of 'Badtrader'

He probably just changed his mind..

  • Here's the story:

I repped iklo, now igloo69 sometime ago about selling and not donating. He then PMed me and gave me his 2 cents worth of what he thought and I posted it for all to see.

He then got banned not of my doing above, but more for hawking his goods here and at the same time elsewhere and hence had to change his nick.

I thought everything was water under the bridge and went on to DIBS and subsequently purchased some stuff from him.

Here's where it got interesting. I met him in person to complete the transaction. Cash and goods exchanged hands and he then asked me if I know who he is and I said yes and proceeded to ask if I recall what I did, to which I replied I did what was right for the forum, no malice intended and the whole boo-ha-ha wouldn't have happened had he been a little more polite (re: 1st line).

His reply: The whole forum donation if you are make significant sales is shit. Why should he comply to the whole shitty system and went further to special-mention that because of what I did he now he has to change his nick and his sales are fucked up.

Would have thrown the "if you don't like it, go to eBay" reasoning at him but sensing that he was a little stirred up and not too happy with me, I offered a handshake and suggested we leave the past as it is which he declined and made further not so nice comments and then walked off. Nice, I will just leave it say nothing and avoid dealing with him. Simple.

That however was not the end of it. He called me through a private number a couple of days ago. I instanly recognised the voice as that of iklo/igloo69 but still I stayed on and listened for a few minute to some very unpleasant things said.

I am very sure he was the culprit because:
    a) his distinct voice and the manner he constructs sentences
    b) he mentioned my nick on the forum.

Once he finished I said I knew it was him which took him by suprise, a brief pause, then a laugh and he hung up.

So: It's my words against hi, but yeah, just to put it out there of my experience dealing with him and it's up to the admins to pass the verdict.

  • ^Regardless of how that may be interpreted.

probably true. will edit my post.

  • ^^ well clearly that's not on. If he does it again make a contemporariness note and if it continues contact the police.

...and report him for internet bullying ; ) But seriously, do if it becomes a problem. Otherwise go with your instincts and let it die.

Also, without wanting to sound remotely like I am condoning his actions, maybe you should take it as a sign to ease up slightly on the whole classified police thing?

RE Donating: I don't think there is any obligation on anyone to make a donation. Which is sort of implicit in the word donation.

The only exception to this is if you are one of the few 'big sellers', like Hilary and Varno, then it sort of comes part of the terms of business. And even then, imo, part of this is predicated on the fact that their primary involvement with the forum is selling. I think this is further born out by the fact that there's never been a discussion about making people donate who often sell but take a more active role - eg JD, Retro de Corsa, etc.

So in summary, obviously if you sell loads then donating is a nice thing to do. But IMO there's no obligation and nor should there be.

  • ***--has been resolved---

  • I am really sorry - I have now found the cup - its now packed and will go out later today...

  • coventry eagle-
wow, I'm quite shocked to say the least... (btw. look at tags)

    hugo7-
As I understand from his post, he just suggested it, or expressed his view, then got attacked and flamewar started..?

Dibbed an item on here, pm'd member, told him I'd come and collect whenever/wherever and to let me know, he replied sure it's yours no problem. I asked for a collection time/place and heard nothing... 2 days later got a pm saying he'd sold it to someone else who was picking up another item from him. Fuuuuuuuuuu

Buying and selling on here is becoming a pain in the arse as people are not backing up what they say. It's a fucking honour system people, which means it needs some honour.

I think this is quite ironic. Someone turns up for a dibed item, with money, and offer to buy another item. Because it's so much "dib-no-buy" he accepts it rather to wait for the dibber who hasn't turned up yet. So to avoid the insecurity of having something dibed, he actually created the same insecurity...

Ahh..... Not sure how well I formulated myself or if anyone can see my point. Anyway, totally with you Gav.

  • Glenn, not bothered by the tags and don't give a whack about it at all. Rather spend my time tweaking the new bike and planning my spring/summer escapes :) Tagging to me is being nothing more than a coward, if you have something to say, just put your name to a post and say it.

Hugo: I stand by my action on the policing bit and I don't think I am overzealous at all. Just check No.1's post to see how many times the word 'bid' was mentioned. And when pointed out he has yet to understand the rules of the forum, kept insisting that he had read and understood it but still continued repeating he has the rights to receive bids.

As for iklo/igloo69, couldn't really verify the number of sales threads he started before I made my comments but it was easily close to 10. Indeed it is a donation, but the whole boo-ha-ha started because of his not too kind words. Would have been a very different story had he just showed a little bit of forum manners. Also, a fiver over 3 months is nothing much, just over 5 pence a day, a BARGAIN in my eyes :)

  • clap, clap, clap

Every single poster on this thread has the most massive bollocks I have ever seen.

    Are you all happy now?

  • So, is this Jon Lau bod still on the skank? Look out for his latest alias as leaked here.
