So I went out for a meal with work last night, a sort of Xmas thing, at the Fox & Anchor opposite Smithfields. I had steak tartare with goose fat chips, and a side of peas and onions.
8/10

It's not a pretty dish, to be sure!

i've never forgiven steak tartar since being a little kid and ordering it by accident in france.
I really wanted a steak, and then that arrived.
sad times. -

I've been a vegetarian for near on 10 years and the only 3 things I rarely crave are: Steak Tartare, Jamon Serrano and a rare steak.
But that photo might has put me off from Tartare for another 10 years.

My colleague had a pie with slow cooked beef on the bone, it was lovely (I ate that too, she wasn't that hungry).

sad times.I can relate to that - unfortunately for me the occasion was on a date aged 18, so i had to pretend it was one of my favourite dishes whilst my date looked on bewildered, convinced i was a freak for eating raw meat.

What sort of food is it? Looks really good, I'm not really into the whole high class french dining experience, I'd prefer a small intimate place but with good food and service........and I know there are places like that in Paris as I've been to some. But can I remember where they are? Can I fuck............
it is all those things and more. chips, skin on - best i've ever had - come in a little bucket, heinz trainsmash on request. -

Steak Tartare is one of my all time favourite dishes. Crispin's and Puns are pure win for me. It will be (and always is) the first meal I order when back in France on the 22nd.

^^^^Le Cassoulet's tartare is all wrong, sorry. No anchovies. Dump the almost entire tomato too. The cornichons should be chopped finely and bound within the meat. Awful presentation, looks a mess.

tomato??? there isn't any tomato.. there's an egg shell with a yolk in it and radishes to one side. If you look closely you see there's already little freckles of green in the meat, it's already there.

I ate at Petersham nurseries the other week.
Boom ting amazing it was...
5 course set menu including veal carne crude.
Italian take on tartar with some damn tasty fine olive oil instead of the needless raw egger. -

It does look like a tomato though.
A King tomato, ruling his subjects from a throne of raw meaty goodness.
I'd repped... But must spread rep etc. etc.

The 'tomato' entirely threw me - yes, an egg-yolk is customary and I couldn't quite figure out whether it was an egg shell containing a yolk or a tomato. Guessed wrong. Still looks a mess to me, but you've eaten it, if it's nice then fair enough.

Director took me to the Oxo Tower today;
Slow braised Beef Ragu with Celeriac mash - Guinea Fowl - Chocolate Pud
Didn't see the bill but I'm sure it wasn't wetherspoons prices. Guinea Fowl was served with basically xmas dinner trimmings, fucking awesome

Going to St John for an early supper tonight, just sitting at the bar as won't have time for a full meal. Obviously I'll be having marrow, any other recommendations?
Oh and can someone post about how it's overpriced and rubbish and X other restaurant is cheaper and better. Thanks

I went there and had a bag of Golden Wonder in a basket, served with Tizer, with a sherbert fountain for pub.
Was nearly £1,100 not inc tip. I paid less than half that for the same stuff in a Summerfield the previous evening.
