do you really think they would have chopped the frame to get it away?
-
• #5603
Yes. Dont think there is any other way that they could have removed it.
Always seat tube and through rear wheel for me.
-
• #5604
Even if just the rear wheel was locked inside the rear triangle, one of the stays would had to have been cut.

Shite dude, sorry to hear about that, but wondering why/how if they could cut through the bike they wouldnt just have gone through the lock instead??? Seems very strange indeed.....

I think it might not have been an angle grinder job but rather a hacksaw thingy. Hacksawing a frame isnt that hard, not much of sparks or noise compared to an angle grinder job. Could always walk away when there is someone walking past then walk back, few more hack at it. Just gutted as the stem/bars/brake/saddle/crank/bb was supposed to be transfered over to the new build. So I have a bare frame with nothing to put on...

that's mad, are you sure you didn't make a human error and lock up the rear wheel outside the rear triangle ? it's happened to everyone at some point i'm sure...
-
• #5610
why havent you taken the wheel away?
-
• #5611
The way I lock it, the bike ends up super tight against the railings hence had I missed the seat tube, the chain would have been slack and I would notice it.

Thanks for the reminder! Kinda felt pretty dejected and was a little too caught up fixing up the replacement that I didn't notice the time, just came back from picking it up!
why havent you taken the wheel away?

Hi guys,
I had my 2008 Langster stolen from just by aldgate tube station between 5.00 and 6.30 this evening. It has a small area of cosmetic damage to the paint work on the side of the upper crossbar. I know it's a long shot but obviously any information if someone gets offered this would be most appreciated.

Have you checked at the entrance to London fields today, there is usually some dodgy fuckers selling bikes there on a weekend.

Angle grinder to the mini evo? Brutal.

Also, if you'd missed the seat tube and only got the rear wheel, they still would have have to cut through a seat stay, unless they mangled the wheel. Which they didn't by the sounds of things.
Crazy.

Shiiiit Josh, I'd heard Broadway Market was bad, but 10 minutes. Fuck.
Good luck trying to get it back. That's bad luck after your bus incident.
Bike: Coventry Eagle
Colour: Black
Stolen from: Railings in front of entrance New Cross Gate
Saddle: Brooks
Seatpost: Dura Ace Fluted, non aero
Stem + Bars: Azonic Downhill stem + Chopped Down Risers
Brake (front only): STX-RC Left hand lever + Dura - Ace 7401 dual pivot caliper.
Front Wheel: Cheap 40mm deep V, machined braking surface, white, SoYoPoLo sticker near valve hole
Details: Went into town on the overground about 4.30ish, locked the bike on the railings right in front of New Cross Gate station. Through main triangle, around seat tube, might or might not have gone around rear stays and through rear wheel and then around the railings. Came back today, gone...
Good news: Bastards left the rear wheel and the Krypto Fagh Chain combo untouched.
Bad news: They must have gone through the seat tube and at least one of the rear stays to have left the lock and rear wheel there.
Gutted to have lost the bike, moreso for the nice headbadge and the plans to restore it than anything else... :(
