Greensand Marathon this Sunday. Anyone?
I have a place for this, but am injured and won't now be doing it. It's a beautiful course.
If anyone wants a free run, drop me a PM.

Are you going to be a marshal instead?
-
• #604
Hadn't thought of that. Probably not, it will annoy me too much, as I know people who are running in it, that I know I could be faster than. Too frustrating....
You doing the G3 series later in the year?

Looks good fun, I'll consult my diary...
Entry is already open for the Al Andalus Ultra for next summer. I'm sending my deposit as soon as it's payday.
I'm also planing on doing the Diagonal des Fous next year. 160km and 9000m of climbing! -

Apparently in a funny sort of way it wasn't as hard as it looked, inasmuch as it was so bloody silly you had to just walk a fair bit of it. "Walk", as in "like climbing up a ladder". Stunning scenary though, and the whole long weekend trip worked out very cheap.

You have to walk the uphill bits or you explode, walking poles are for winners!

Having done the Eden Project marathon last Sunday, I can thoroughly recommend it as long as you love hills. My legs still hurt and I was about 7 minutes slower than last year. I'm sure they changed the route a bit.
Flat course next year methinks.

Damn, that looks like fun!
Amsterdam mara is highly recommended - fast, flat course, decent support, great weather, lovely city, plenty of worthwhile wind-down activities available.

Spliffs and hookers! Yay!

I did the Dorset one of these this weekend. I'm booked in to do the Half Marathon distance at all of them but Anglesey, but they also run a 10km and a full Marathon at all events as well as a few ultras. I'm thinking of upgrading at least a couple of my races. Awesome event, hard work but well worth the (quite expensive) entry fee.

Im after something similar to tracksuit bottoms, but with more of an athletic tapered fit. The typical chav sort are like clown trousers.
Anyone got some recommendations?
I thought about ronhill tracksters, but are they too much like tights? (like nodder wear).

If you're going to run, you might as well get some proper gear. Ronhills are tight because they work, anything that is even a bit baggy will end up chafing you as it flaps about, and peeling your clothes off bloody scabs at the end of a run is not fun.
Underarmour is good but expensive, if you want cheap gear that's reasonable quality, get down to Decathlon. I buy stuff online from likeys.com if I'm getting stuff to race in, they are runners themselves and they won't sell you stuff they wouldn't use themselves. -

Run and become in Victoria 'had' tracksuit bottoms like this when I was last there, if i'm not hallucinating they had a strap that goes under the foot. I think these are for light short training though rather then long distance. The best performance running bottoms are tights, warmth, wicking and aero......

Lycra definitely the way forward.

never really run in tracksuit bottoms or long tights. most i wear even in winter is lycra shorts.

Trackkies=no no. Lycra stuff is king.

RonHills ftw, mine have lasted for years, it used to be very unfashionable to use the underfoot thing though.
Y'day had my first run of the winter with gloves, chuff it was a bit breezy by the river.

I just went for an early morning run and just seemed to have boundless energy so i kept going. This combined with the ipod gods giving me awesome track after awesome track and the beautiful fresh weather meant when i got to Greenwich (starting point Clapton) instead of turning back i carried on. 4hrs and 20 mins later I arrived home and after putting it into* mapmyrun* i just realised i ran a marathon. To top it off, i get home and the original series of Star Trek is on. It's going to be a good day!

I love that feeling when you just don't want to stop running!

I may have fatal man flu, and I know you're not supposed to run with man flu, but if I don't go running now I'm going to be really really miserable for the rest of the day!

I'm thinking of cycling more now than running but I can't swim (very well) so triathlons out of the question. Maybe duathlon;
Bloody hell, I think I'm finally enjoying it. Spent more time running than cycling this week.
