Oh yeah, nearly forgot: anyone got a chorus rear hub 130 that the axle may be taken from?

I am a fucking mechanical disaster area. The sooner I realise this the better. WhoamItryingtokid?!
My daily, lampost snotter has been making dodgy noises. Sort of banging clicks not clicking clicks. I've changed the chain, freewheel, derailleurs, and tightened the chainring bolts. Must be the rear axle. I need to look. Mmm.

You mean confessions? Maybe.
@murts well rolling around with the skewer basically holding everything together seems pretty fucking precarious!

Joe, you're not fat or old.
I'm not pissed on expensive red wine.
Axles break.
If you insist on running freewheels.

I like this thread. It's a first time on this forum it isn't spelled as Axel.

I take it that it was not a cassette but a freehub, as its not uncommon to snap an axle what usually happens is the axle bends. Then its noted and replaced. You can get stronger axle for a tandem that seems to be the same width but a stronger material.

Lolz at stuff up there^^^^
Can't really be arsed to fix it. It's nuthin special. Got a nice Phil freewheel hub I've been meaning to build. So here's my excuse. Now to work out if I can somehow save money on spokes by reusing .... I'm such a cheapskate.

Hi Skully,
I had similar problems. See my thread here:
http://www.lfgss.com/thread55177.html
And most specificaly 36X18's answer here, that I found very instructive.
http://www.lfgss.com/post1783721-8.html
I found a replacement axle for my french maillard perrin professional hub at that jumble we went together, but for my campag hub that still needs to be repaired, I will probably the replacement axle by "wheel manufacturing", available at SJS cycles.
Loic
OK so I've been meaning to take a wheel off my tourer to have a look at it, cos there seemed to be some play in the axle-hub assembly - assumed the cones needed adjusting. Eventually, tonight after riding with digger from LMNH, with some 7" records in one pannier and other heavy shit in the other, during which there were funny tyre-mudguard noises going on.... I get home. I pour myself a glass of a half decent armagnac. And the wheel comes off. First time in ages. The sodding axle is sheared off, since God Know When. Possibly been like that for AGES.
How embarrassing. So I thought I'd come clean here, rather late in the evening:
