2010-12-16 - Rider Down (tom), near Lewisham Shopping Centre

Hey guys,

Tom had a fight with a bus this morning around Lewisham on the way to work. Two ambulances and some police turned up to pick him up. He's in Lewisham Hospital with a nasty broken ankle waiting for surgery to stick him back together. I think the morphine and gas are helping with the pain, but he's rather traumatised they cut through his nice new SPD shoes (part of the reason his ankle is now broken!). He can fill you in on the gory details once he gets somewhere near some internet. I can pass on any messages, or if anyone fancies visiting him once he's properly in a cast, give me a shout.

I'll print this thread out and take it to him later on and get some details about visiting times, etc. He'll probably get moved to a proper ward at some point once they've pinned him back together. I wish I'd videoed him being a smart arse to the doctor and nurses in between breaths from the oxygen/nitrous tank. :D I suspect there will soon be complaints about the food...when he's allowed to eat again.

I have relayed all your kind words to Tom. He's doing ok considering, and is going into surgery in the morning, maybe needs a metal plate or two. All I know about what happened is that was overtaking a bus when he came off. The CCTV from the bus might provide some enlightenment. I think the bike's ok, and being held at Catford Police Station so I'll be going to pick that up at some point.
