  • .....and is it just me or did you spend a lot of money on carbon on a beater?

NOW I HAVE. This beauty just arrived, 120g of carbon goodness.

  • It all makes perfect sense now.

Nice saddle nonetheless. Most have cost you the better part of a monkey.

    Haha, love it.

I'm not sure I'm with you, what makes sense?

  • It does make sense. You need light parts to compensate for the geometry.

  • that saddle is like £30, not exactly expencive

  • What's wrong with the geo? It sure rides OK to me.

  • think he's talking about the large clearance in the rear triangle. A longer wheelbase means the handling is less responsive, and lighter parts make it quicker to turn. So they cancel each other out.

  • Ahh I see, thanks.

It feels fine to me so that's all I care about.

But it's not that long....is it?

  • it's not massively long, it's just got a larger rear than normal for a track bike. It could partly be due to the small size of the frame though.

  • Been riding my brothers to make sure its all solid and its a 54cm, usualy ride a 58 so the wheelbase is probably shorter than my usual ride(s), so i cant really judge on how that feels, its pretty nippy.

Its very stiff and i find that perfect for sprinting the 10 mile cycle path and back for a quick workout. I'll be building a raw aluminium frame version up as soon as i get a fork, to be used as a winter/ all weather bike that is still fast. Grit really hit my steel frames hard this year ever with after ride washes.

It doesn't mean anything during a daily commute.
It's just hard to call that frame a track frame.

Funny, a stripped SLR will weigh at about <120g, and you can get get one for 20 quid.

  • Horses for courses, £10 isn't exactly going to break the bank. And I just had a look, can't see any on here or ebay for £20...

  • What 10 pounds?...^he didn't pay only 30 quid for that.
    100gn at least.
