  • So, a dredge.

Very recently, I have experienced a rather strange kind of pain in my upper thigh - more specifically, my left leg, and what upon googling would appear to be in the region of the head of my femur.

It doesn't feel like a muscle pain; as it tends to throb at strange times completely unrelated to any movement. In fact, I've only ever experienced it lying or sitting down, effectively motionless. It seems to come and go at random, with painful throbbings in two or three short waves, i.e. there will be three short sharp pains in the area which then go away, only to come back again a couple of minutes later. It's happening right now...

tbh, I'm not even sure it's cycling related - I've done little mileage recently, and nothing too tough at that. I have recently geared down too, which I guess could be related.

I suspect it may be a nerve of some sort - although it doesn't seem debilitating/painful enough for that given what I've heard. Although it is painful enough to make me draw breath and stop talking when it happens...

Has anyone else had anything like this? I'm thinking Dr's appointment in the new year anyway, cos it's irrtiating. But would be nice to hear other femur-pain related speculation.
