For Sale: Mavic Ellipse Track Wheels

  • ** FOR SALE ** Mavic Ellipse Track Wheels

I bought these new in 2009 from Surosa Cycles in Manchester and they have had light use on the track and on rollers only. Never been out in the wet or the dark nor had a brake used on them. They run true with only very minor scuffs from light use.

    Some pictures are here :

As the sales blurb says: Undoubtedly one of the best pre-built wheels on the market. The Ellipse is smooth as silk and on the street will feel as rigid as a high end road wheelset. They are also suprisingly strong, easily taking the weight of curb pops. Sexy, great value & smooth. Buying these is a good move!

£ 275 or £ 310 with your choice of new Continental tyres, tubes and tapes.
I can deliver in Central Scotland or probably Manchester at no extra cost.
Drop me a PM if interested.

  • easily taking the weight of curb pops.

i thought these had only been used on rollers?

  • I think the following was copy pasted off a review site/Mavic homepage;

  • "Undoubtedly one of the best pre-built wheels on the market"

Interesting claim in their own blurb?

Love to know what makes that true. My experience with them is mixed at best. Waaaay over priced and overly hyped, plus when they break, which they do far to often, parts are a pig to get.

Not really my definition of "one of the best"

  • dibs! pm coming

  • Touch on the pricey side IMO - can be had for £330 new.

I'm not normally a for sale spoiler but I concur

  • It's true that they do look a wee bit over priced but once have you factored in the £80+ worth of tyres if you go for putting a pair of 23mm Conti Supersonics with supersonic tubes and rim tapes on the wheels I think it looks like a good dealt £310 as they are in very good condition.

Any way its only an invitation to see if they are what you would like.

So they are £230 without tyres and tubes?

  • No I think the OP is quite clear about them being £275 (£60 off) and the £310 ref was that +£80 of tyres for £35 made it an alround good package.

Plus anyone who prices something at £310 clearly knows they're going to get pushed down to £300, so all in it seems like an ok deal doesn't it?

  • seems like an ok deal doesn't it?

    No, Way over priced.

Sold this very day on ebay

Mavic Ellispe for £190 with sprocket and conti tyres

  • So they are £230 without tyres and tubes?

    Hmm,

that's a great bargain on Ebay and it looks like my wheels are a bit over prices in comparison…..

so the first firm offer of £230 plus a fiver if you need them posted in the UK and the wheels are yours !

    Regards Allister

  • I paid £175 for mine at the beggining of last season. Had to true the front slightly though.

    Nice wheels IMHO.

  • I'm giving you a bump.

  • Yeah, I paid £180 for mine 2nd hand too tbh.

  • Did you get the spoke tool, the valve extender, lockring, bearing adjuster/ tyre lever, a sheet of mavic stickers and the instruction manual though....

  • instruction manual.........?

  • i think replacing spokes etc on these wheels does require an instruction manual, probably includes warranty or something as well

  • wheels & lockring only, I admit. Not sure that I'd pay £95 for the plastic tools that come with the new set. Each to their own though.

  • Any one who lives near Chelsea and can use a post office ?

  • i'll have the rear if you split?

  • Sorry for the late posting, the wheels are now sold.

    regards Allister
