I took the weekend off, slept for about 30 hours and drank continuously for the remaining 18. Perfect!
Hard training starts next week. Starting with a jog to work tomorrow.

50 miles this morning. Still a good thing I was on studded tyres. Some of the Kentish lanes were ice rinks for very long stretches. Deathly quiet again, although I passed a lot of VCL riders heading out when I was on my way back up to Crystal Palace around 11am.
The only impassable section was a corner on Tatsfield Lane, just before the junction with the main road. A massive lake full of little icebergs. I had to backtrack, and take a narrow footpath, and thanks to that, I've got thorn lacerations on my ankles.
This was about as clear as Beddlestead Lane got. There are a lot of sheep off camera to the left. They were staring at me en masse, and as I've just read Murakami's 'A Wild Sheep Chase', my current sheep perception is skewed, and they were freaking me out a bit:

I got on my bike today cheers all round and cycled until I threw up (after 3 miles).
In all i did 6.5 miles, probably walked 0.5 miles of that, and I don't think i've ever been so pleased to get home.
I'm now figuring out how to keep my bike in a more accessible position so i can do it all again (without the throwing up bit) several times this week.
I am a masochist and ICM£5

So why did you throw up? Was is a fitness thing or were you sick/hungover?

BMMF: This looks great. I am gutted that my bikes don't take larger (studded) tyres.
Maybe I should get a Cross Check next year? -

Maybe I should get a Cross Check next year? It's fun, if a little unnerving. Weird knowing that there's little point in unclipping and dabbing, as my feet will just slide. I had to descend Hessiers-->Beddlestead very gingerly. You can't slam on the front brake on ice without then having to correct like mad, and you need the same light touch with resisting the pedals (on fixed).
I've got 26x1.75 Marathon Winters. They roll pretty well on the tarmac, but the noise makes pedestrians wonder what the fuck is coming down the road behind them :D
You can even stand and honk up icy hills, but there's a limit, and I decided against Brasted today. Heaving that thing up a 25% gradient in 60" fixed was always going to be a traction FAIL.

He didn't say it sounded like hippy.

I just did this:

No snow or ice to speak of, but I did fall off the rollers once at the end of an out of the saddle sprint

Are they any good?
I'm looking at "Fight Club" or something similar. -

Crappy little 25 mile ride from my Mums in Brasted to home via Ide Hill, Bouch Beech, Leigh, across the back of Hildenborough, then Shipbourne and Crouch.

I like them. They're all good, I'd say fight club is the one to go for as it feels least structured and you don't get bored of it as quickly.

Right.

Don't take it so literally, then. ;)

An uninspired 45miles around Richmond Park... knackered before I started so was never going to be much fun. First half-decent ride in over a week and just wanted to get some miles in...

Last cross race in the league today, I rode abysmally as usual, crashed twice, caught out by toe-overlap on a narrow 180°the first time, and a high kerb hidden under some tall grass the second time. Nearly came off a third time when a foot-long piece of metal from an engine (hidden in the grass again) decided to get with the party and temporarily hook itself on to my pedal, which was exciting.
Had enough league points in the bag to finish second overall in the womens category though, so took home a medal and bottle of wine. For anyone who is London-based and interested in trying cross racing the Central League is great, super friendly people, small fields, and good courses. Plus you can easily get to all of the courses by train (what I've been doing).

short ride <30 km entirely ruined by a faint rubbing noise from the back wheel. Annoying. Think it was the mudguard. Annoying as hell, in fact. Nice to be out on a bike though.

45 miles the same loop? How many times round is it?

30 miles yesterday. 30 miles today. Wanted to try out some of the hills in North London, but I'm not too familiar with the area. Not familiar at all in fact. Just pootling around really. But fun anyway.
