  • Greif Masters 2011
    Indoor Bench Minor

    Datum:

4. - 6. February 2011

Ort:

    Neue Messe Karlsruhe

    **
Court:
    **
1 Court ca. 32x18m (2-3 meters longer then 2010)
Court will be cleaned several times a day, to avoid slippery floor (because this was the issue last time)

    **
Format:
    **
Bench Minor

    Teams: (10 players, incl. captain)

    • Benelux & Denmark
    • England (doesn't exclude London players)
    • France
    • Germany
    • Italy
    • Karlsruhe (because the people that are organizing this, want to play!!!)
    • London (because they are the fucking biggest bikepolo-scene!!!)
    • Switzerland
    • Spain

    Option 1:
Without playing on Friday (only throwins on Friday):
games: 2x 15 min, round robin
    = every team has 8 games = 36 games = 18 h

    Option 2:
or if we decide to start playing on Friday already:
    games: 2x20 min, round robin

    Final:
The 2 best teams will play in a 2x 30 min final.

    Forming the Teams:
Every country has 1 week to tell us a captain (we don't care about the process). If a country can't find a captain, we choose one out of the country for them.
The captain has to organize his team as soon as possible. If there are some Americans willing to come, They can play as an extra player (max. 1 per Teams). Just in case some people want to travel transatlantic.

Referees:
Every team has to bring one referee (he has to ref 4 games and can be a player)

  • we've been discussing for days about the Greif Masters and the idea of hosting it as a Euro Bench Minor. And now we are sure we want to do this.

We hope we will not cause troubles with that dicision.
Because it was Max's idea, and he already started organising the same.

We also talked about that and think that even if we both would host a Euro-Nation Bench Minor within a few weeks, it wouldn't be a problem, as there are definitely more people than 10 per country willing to play.

  • I'm in Australia. Karlsruhe 2010 was one of my favourite tournaments too, tsk.

    Malice for life.

  • Malice for a day.

    Doubt I'll make GMBM2(011)./

I wish you'd done a tourney, would be way more awesome. xoxo

    +1
But then again, I haven't played a BM yet and Karlsruhe has some crazy organizational skills.

  • Sounds fun for the lucky 10..

  • Cheer up Gormley, you might make the England team.

  • MMhhhh Sounds good!

  • Cheer up Gormley, you might make the England team.

Can I start a Scotland team?

  • Malice for life.

    Apples for a day.

Why would you think this? It sure seems like a conflict to me.

  • sounds good, how do we go about selecting the players for the england team? I'm sure a few MCR players would be up for it.

  • Have a draft.

  • Great news! Would be awesome to come and play! For Info, set Brussels Bike Polo on the "picking list"! Names (3, 4?) will follow! Just a few questions and remarks:

    • a general one: does the captain play or not, like in Max's mind for London Bench Minor?
    • more personal: are you sure for a team "Benelux & Denmark"??? ? It's already difficult in one scene or country.. But 4 countries and almost the double of scenes without existing "structures" and big contacts, besides "national" or personal ones? Quite a challenge in one week! But ok, if you say so, you're the boss!
    • Just, how and where can we discuss this issue for "our" team? Anykind of forum or discussion existing? Contacts?
    • First, who already shows interest? To come, play and/or to be captain and choose the players?

    Cheers!

PS: Sure, it's a pity not to have the Greifmasters as tourney, but bench minor is the best solution if you have only one court.. And this format have a big future, I think!
PPS: if asked, little preference for option B.

  • Don't forget the Dutchy's ;)

  • If England is struggling for players, I'd be interested. Can't imagine I'm anywhere near the top 20 in the country though!

  • Interest had.

  • Interest had.

Youre barred, boy. You see an Ireland team on there?

  • London born. Both in the field of play and the yield of that day.

  • Ha ! If it goes on where you were born that makes most of London players ineligible

very true.... but me still eligible. Someone buy that bus!

  • this is going to be mad ! Would option 2 start in the late afternoon/evening ?

  • Toys are going to be thrown so far out of prams, they will be irretrievable.
