perfect wheels.
Very kind.
The internal nipples were a PITA but do make them look very clean. I even went as far as to use nipple washers, which I think helped the rear come together. The bladed spokes of the rear are wider for extra stiffness, which you cant see in the pic's. Despite the dishing the tensions in the drive side and non drive side are very close. I recently removed the veloplugs and gave them some serious final truing. I've become a bit obsessed TBH. Need to get some road grime on them. Tune hubs are very nice.

I bet you can get a bit of a stonk on when you try. I'd really like to give track riding a go one day. have you used any of your older track bikes on the track? how much quicker are you on a modern bike?

Tune hubs are very nice.
They are remarkably reliable for weight weenie hubs too.

They were chosen in the end for their flange dimensions (from a recommendation). This actually really helped get even spoke tensions on the rear.

My dad has an old army bike rusting away
It's heavier than a girls bike, has rod brakes and the pedals look they are rotting.
Possibly a winter project for next years tweed excursions.

photo.JPG by monomaniac(tom), on Flickrjust won this on ebay last week and collected her today - after using my girlfriends m-type almost every day i thought it was about time i sold my utility bike and get this to save space.. so far really chuffed - bought it as standard and have fitted a ti brooks and the roller wheels on the back. have some ideas for new bars and maybe new cranks from the parts box if i feel the need but not too fussed on fiddling - afterall the design is so good they're pretty damn hard to upgrade!

Lust! What rims are they?
They are OEM rims from china. High grade Toray carbon, with kevlar reinforcement, and a polyurethane foam core. They certainly seem strong and light, but the profile doesnt look overly aero TBH. They were'nt the cheapest, but I wanted to have the rear rim drilled without any offset angle. So need to find a flexible supplier. They are drilled for internal rims, which I thought should allow the use of higher spoke tension (smaller hole, with bigger nipple contact area). For more info. I got pretty much all my info from this thread.

If you're looking for a decent cranks, look at the TA'S 50.4BCD one, they can go as big as 64t easily, and there's TA cranks for the moulton, thus should be fine on the Brompton.

TA Cyclotouristes are archaic, and thanks to recumbulentists it's easy to get 130pcd rings in big sizes like 65t, meaning you can use any common Shimano compatible crank on your folder.

TA may be archaic, but they're still great lightweight cranks.

Just got the NOS 40 holes freewheel hubs, time to put 3 fixed sprocket on it and run it as a 2 or 3 speeds bike;
Anyone have any alu 40 holes 27" rims?
-
• #38075
aye? 3 speed fixed? how are you planning on getting it to change gear ? or have i horribly misunderstood? as for the rim old tandem rim? they use 40 dont they?
@EINGANG I use look keo Carbon with ti spindles and have them on the tightest fit, I use the new cleats with the rubber bits on the bottom stop me going arse over tit on the Velodrome slope, they have just repainted it and it is as slippy as fuck.
@t-4003 not much chance of that for a good while only been on the track 6 months and at my age I am no way going to get really fast.
