Ah, to think, this time a year ago I was on the bike at sunny Ironman Bolton...
(Good luck to all doing it today)

no mate- the 10k run is going to be the bit that hurts like christ.
1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run, on tarmac.
I'll probably do it, slowly and gingerly.
I might use it to practice transitions, and more importantly, try and get a really good swim time.
HDon't do it. By the time you are off the bike, you will be warmed up, the joints won't be hurting, some "idiot" will run past you, and you will just have to chase him down....
You know the rest of the sad story and the inevitable conclusion.

so tomorrow it begins.
3:10
feel good about everything(ish)...
done more than each distance in training, one 'tick over' run and swim today and then tomorrow I go for it.
just need to buy some caffeine gels.
fuck the run, I'll aim to do it in around 1hr, and be happy with that.so see you lot on the other side.

2:39....
pretty disappointed that i didn't push for the sub 2:30.
the swim in a sailing wetsuit was mediocre: 29 mins
Cycle- definitely took it too easy- 1:07
Run- pretty chuffed: 52 mins
T1 was around 5 mins- i stretched out alot here (and got lost)
T2 around 3 mins, decent(ish)congrats to anyone else that did it.
I've got a definite goal for Weymout Tri now- sub 2:30!!!! -

Congrats, mate. Great work!

Where did you get your times? They up on the internet yet?
-
• #108
at the timex stand.
How'd it go for you spinto? -
• #109
So I didn;t make the WeyTri due to shoulder complications.
Training starts this weekend for the summer sessions, I will beat 2:20 and maybe a little lower this year.
TTs are really going to help on the cycling side, and hopefully I'll be way down on my run and swim times too, frankly 29mins was a joke, and i'm very disappointed with it.
Running wise I'm training for a half marathon, this year, and a full next year, but of major importance is some severe weight loss prior to a surgery which i know will take me out of action for a long, long time.anyone else started training?

Doing some bits in the pool to keep ticking over, riding my bikes plenty, no running. Not sure on plans for next year, might do an off-road tri.
-
• #111
off road tris are so much fun.
definitely considerring Xterra. need to train like fuckery on the MTB though, the last one i did, no off road training destroyed my bike leg! -

Swim: Looking for an indoor pool to start some swimming -really need to do proper drills and practice technique, all I did last year was to jump in the pool and swim the distance I was supposed to be racing as fast as I could - no measurable result between the start and end of season. Will be in tooting Lido 2 or 3 nights a week once it warms up a little (April??).
Bike: Every commute is a training session. (And an exercise in ingesting nasty diesel soot particles deep into my lungs -could be counterproductive)
Run: slowly starting some jogs, may do a few 10/5K races early next year (Bookham etc)-to concentrate the training. (Dodgy achilles means taking it slowly esp any speed work and hills.)

I just posted a position/set up question in the TT thread, but thought mentioning it in this thread as well might reach some people who don't check that thread regularly.
Question is here: http://www.lfgss.com/post1854848-1466.html
Any advice appreciated, apologies for cross posting.

xterra uk exists, and there's at least one in scotland and one in surrey.although I do own a smattering of polo ponies and a small estate in hertfordshire.
ewanmac- mdcc tester will probably give you some advice in the TT thread.

Tooting Bec Lido only opens to the public at the end of May. you will need to join South London Swimming Club (SLSC) if you want access during the "winter" months.
