Did you grease the hub? those are supposed to be oiled and grease will not work.
-
• #7
frame is 53cm seattube and 54cm effective toptube.
i cleaned the hub right out and regreased it, but you are right a lot of oily stuff (probably oil) came out in the cleaning process. i will re-oil it instead.
vibez has 2nd dibs on the h+son, yasi has 2nd dibs on the frame.

If you have greased a Sturmey Archer hub (bad idea!) you need to flush it out with something to remove the grease or it won't work properly. The correct oil is then something like 80 weight motorcycle gear oil / 40 weight car engine oil or similar. Too light and it won't work properly. Too heavy and it won't work properly either.

Condor track drops:
These are the drops with the really sudden sweep. Bought these just after I had bought my first spds and didn't enjoy the combination of the two. Fitted a brake lever for the day I used them which has left a small mark, which you could cover with tape, or maybe, a brake lever. I think they are a 25.4 clamp. I paid £25 and used them once. £15
700c Mavic A719 rim on Sturmey Archer 3 Speed hub:
Built this wheel the other day, and have realised I can't justify building a whole new bike around a wheel. Took the hub apart, cleaned and re-greased it, running smoothly. Not the lightest of wheels but very nice all the same. 120 spacing. Comes with Sturmey Archer shifter and cable, tube and new Nimbus all white tyre (can change this if you'd prefer). £60
Condor 27.2 seatpost:
Brand new, didn't fit my girlfriend's bike. Small insertion marks up to about an inch and a half/2 inches. £10
Thanks!
Ben
